Anyone else see the movie yet? I saw it tonight and I thought it was a lot of fun. It's old timey and slapsticky, and it does a great job of capturing the era.

i haven't seen it yet, but i voted up 'cause George Clooney is a dream boat.
I saw it this weekend and had mixed reactions. I absolutely admire Renee Zellweger's acting skills. She did not disappoint me one bit in this film.
The rest of the acting was very good as well.
The plot line was interesting and the 1920's era use of cars, clothing, and football uniforms was entertaining.
I have to admit I was somewhat disappointed. Perhaps I expected a lot more than the film provided. Though the film did mention some of the rule establishment and changes(for much of the games there were few rules) I would have like to have seen more description of different formations and plays.
Overall, I would give a grade of C- for Leatherheads.
Any movie with clooney sucks. Worse fucking actor ever. Too bad he didn't die for real on his ER finale.
Patrick Swayze has always been a very overrated actor in my opinion. I'm sorry the guy is having major health issues but his acting skills are marginal at best.Originally Posted by Zool
I did like Clooney in "Oh Brother, Where Are't Thou".
My favorite current actors are Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Gwyneth Paltrow, Catherine Keener, John Malkovich, John Turturro.
My least favorite actors are Julia Roberts.
Did you see the man in Ghost? That was unbelievable. Heartless bastard.Originally Posted by oregonpackfan
Major health issues are a great career move. Look at Christopher Reeves. People had forgotten he existed until he fell off that horse. All of a sudden he was everywhere. At least until he, you know, died.Originally Posted by oregonpackfan

I would agree that the authenticity on the field was probably a bit lacking. Why is it that every football movie seems to center on teams cheating to win? So the ending bothered me a bit.Originally Posted by oregonpackfan
But I also understand that it's not a documentary, and it did delve more deeply into the history of the game than it probably needed to. All the actors were good. Clooney's Clark Gable meets Cary Grant routine is ideal for throwback movies like this.
I give it a fast and breezy *** out of 4.
On an unrelated note, one of the pre-movie trailers was for the new Indiana Jones movie. I have no idea whether it's going to be good or not, but the trailer makes it quite obvious that they aren't pretending Harrison Ford is still a young man. It could have gone badly had they not made that decision.
Of course the other way to go would be to retire Ford all together and get a new Indy, ala the James Bond movies. And to bring things full-circle, Clooney would have been great at that.

You're just pissed because of all that Mexican Vampire assed he kicked in From Dusk Til' Dawn and becuase he stole Andy Garcia's money and his woman in Ocean's 11. It's just more reversal of racialism from Mad, if you ask me.Originally Posted by MadtownPacker
SOB!! I actually forgot about DTD you Trisket! It is actually great!Originally Posted by twoseven
Of course all Clooney had to do was play a selfish, egotistical jerk. Big stretch there.
If he were a real man, not a triscuit (triscuit?? wtf??), he would have gotten tattooed up for real versus that fake crap he was sporting. Gotta love Cheech in multiple roles in DTD, classic movie.Originally Posted by MadtownPacker

I tried to find one from the set on eBay but never could. Probably best anyways, might have had an accident when taking a leak.
