Gin is indeed alive but he is on the a 25 year timeline from the past. He meets a pregnant French woman. She is the younger French woman who has been living on the island for some 25 years. As you recall, Ben is supposedly the father of her to be born daughter.

i'm finding a lot of it unbelievable this season.
i don't know if its just me, or if the writers are starting to lose it, but this season has just been flat, and nothing has seemed suspenseful to me this season
like in the past i would be like OMG, i can't wait till next week to figure out what happens
