    Vikings: Another Dilemma!

Vince and I were discusiing ón another thread feeling pity for our rivals to the west.

Then I found this little nugget:

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...headline_stack

How bad can it get before it gets any better?

Vikings made a huge mistake with Frazier. Changing to a 34 will put them back yet another year on D and they still have a number of issues offensively.

The prudent thing to do would be to cut bait and rebuild.... I hope they don't because they are plain awful with Frazier running the show.

how many teams win with shakey offensive line and secondary?

Lombardi had a losing season or two. You can't judge a coach in less than 3 full seasons.

    Original story here:

That story has to be from sources who are at odds over the direction of the team, or just misinformed. Singletary has never been a DCoordinator and I am not sure he has implemented a 3-4 before.

What I would really like to know is if the 2nd half defensive meltdowns were a result of the players doing their own thing, or the coaches reasserting control?
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I'm pretty sure everyone is at odds over the direction of the team - except Packer fans that is. If human nature is any indication, they're all passing the buck around whenever possible.

Shitty strategic coaches or shitty uncoachable players? It looks like both at this point. The defensive backfield is nothing short of brutal right now.

No, I lied again. Singletary worked with Mike Nolan in Baltimore and San Fran and Nolan runs a 3-4.

Actually, no. He went 7-5 his first year with the Packers (Packers had gone 1-10-1 the year before), and that was his worst year. The next year they lost in the title game. Then, they won 5 championships in 7 years. In the two years they didn't win the championship, they went 11-2-1 and 8-5-1. His Packer teams went 89-29-4.

    - Delete- (Harvey beat me to the Packer info).

    Further:
In 1969 Lombardi took over a 'Skins team that had finished 5-9 in 1968, and went 7-5-2 his first season.

Lombardi never had a losing season as a head coach in the NFL.
