Parts of California are amazing....just a perfect environment.....but then you add the people and the taxes and things go downhill. My wife and I go every year for a month or so....I love Waimea. Kona is pretty damn nice....I love Hilo/ North Hilo. I bought 5 acres land (Jungle/Lava) in Puna back in my stoner days for $2000. Rain, rain and more rain.....lol. I have never done anything with it other than plant some trees and such. We'll start to spend more time there in the winter in the next few years........
