    Comment wooodbuck27:

I want Ted Thompson and his Draft Staff and Green Bay Packer Scouts to have one word in mind as the focus for drafting over the next few years.

    That word is TOUGHNESS !

I want to see TT draft prospects that play TOUGH and MEAN !

    I'm aware of this:

For incidents that occurred in the 34–30 win over the Green Bay Packers in week 3 of the 2013 season, (Vontaze) Burfict was fined a total of $31,000.[39] He had hit a defenseless receiver (James Jones) and struck an opponent in the groin (Ryan Taylor).

So many Packer fans didn't see prudence in picking a College Prospect like the Bengals Vontaze Burfect !? The entire NFL missed on this guy who's been nothing short of sensational as an NFL player to date.

What's his status on the Bengals Defensive Depth Chart and overall in the NFL today? He's bad ass 'really good' and leads the NFL this season in Tackles with 118 and *** that's 6 more than the number two tackler Kiko Alonzo of the Bills at 112 tackles. A whopping 22 more tackles than the #3 tackler, Demeco Ryans of the Eagles.

    Leading Tacklers in 2013:

    *** http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorysta...true&Submit=Go

I'm just sick of seeing TT select paper doll prospects. I want him to have an eye and mind out for tough/durable prospects on both sides of the ball moving forward.

I'm sick of reading about just how much 'bad luck' is with Green Bay Packer players.

Bad Luck or lacking in grit/toughness/durability.

It's surely nothing to do with defensive players and contact.

It's not a dance out there .... it's FUCKING NFL football. It's about mean and tough.

Bring that back to the Green Bay Packers Ted Thompson.

I'm sure the rankings will change about 50 times between now and the draft, but thanks for posting them. Will be interesting to see how they change.

Unless he does something really horrible, I think Tolzien has done enough to get himself an invite to camp as the backup QB. I'd like to see them bring Flynn back to be the competition. A full offseason, etc., will help both and should result in better QB depth next year. The loser of the Tolzien/Flynn competition then gets cut and TT finds some UDFA QB to stash/develop on the PS.

I think TT will go BPA, which based on the rankings doesn't look like it will be a S in R1. I don't watch much college football, so I can't stump for anyone specific...and honestly, I don't really care who they are as long as they come in, play well and stay healthy.

    As for the FA's
On the DL, I don't think Pickett(age), Jolly(past) or Wilson(ok vs.run, jag otherwise) will get a ton of interest. Neal might, but he's new to the OLB spot and he's hurt 5 days a week.
Raji will get interest, and if he turned down 8M/yr he's probably gone or crazy. He's talented and explosive but I think TT will find a replacement in the draft. Unless he makes a huge leap in the next 8-9 months, Josh Boyd is not the answer.

James Jones will get interest. Boykin can fill in for him, but TT will need to find someone to be the next Boykin, and down the road they'll have decisions with Jordy and Cobb.

Finley's career might be over, at least with GB. His agent says the surgery won't prevent him from playing, but GB might say no thanks and shop elsewhere. Quarless won't get a ton of interest. People seem to think Stoneburner and Bostick have potential, but I think they'll do something here. This season is basically Bostick's chance to show something.

Shields is going to get interest. Tramon has played two good games in a row after...well, not. I think they do something with that 9.5M salary to keep both of them around. GB seems to have a talented group of CB's, not sure how they fit the schemes (better at zone vs. man, etc.) and play together. Shields is a valuable player and they'll try to keep him. Tramon has yet to match his 2010 year, but is better than what a lot of teams trot out at CB.

Gonna be a very interesting draft/offseason/TC next season. If I had to make a random prediction: they lose Jones, Raji, Wilson, Finley, cut Newhouse and at least one other face on the OL, cut Tramon and keep Shields. I also expect an overhaul at Safety. McMillian, Jennings and Banjo are not safe.

Packers are in a situation that they can take their top rated player overall regardless of position. They have holes at every position. It will depend heavily on free agency.

BJ Raji isn't worth huge money, but you sort of have to pay if you are the Packers. They need him more than he needs the Packers.

Pickett could be signed cheap because of his age to a one or two year deal. If the packers shore up those two guys their defensive line doesn't need to be addressed with a high pick.

Inside linebacker, secondary, and receivers especially tight end.

I'm on the shelf RE: Raji and his reported turning down an $8 Million $ offer. As a FA with experience and some potential and desires for more spectacular plays he commands his own destiny

Pickett ....Yes Nutz we need a balance of the DL back to take heat off the draft there.

I think it's OL, DB and TE.

As you comment on..... things will certainly change a lot over these next 5-6 months.

All the same we have a start here on Packerrats and a beginning of some thoughts on the draft.

A lot to be determined and foremost our draft position.

I agree with your analysis on our DL.

We will need another good pick at WR.

You predict a lot of change:

"Gonna be a very interesting draft/offseason/TC next season. If I had to make a random prediction: they lose Jones, Raji, Wilson, Finley, cut Newhouse and at least one other face on the OL, cut Tramon and keep Shields. I also expect an overhaul at Safety. I believe the team needs a lot of change. Some moves in terms of making a real improvement. Cut the deadwood. We need a roster full of football players that really want to be Green Bay Packers. Players that are dedicated and demonstrating hunger to winning.

    GO PACKERS !

it will, guys that are rated as first rounders now will go in the 3rd and 4th in april and guys you haven't heard of now will be first rounders.

but its a place to start, and if you learn about a projected 1st rounder now you might end up looking really smart come draft time when you know all there is to know about that guy we just drafted in the 5th

If they drop the next two, I hope they lose out. I'd love to have a shot at either an epic haul for one of the top QBs, or to land that boy from SC.

    GO PACK GO !
Yes, but not in the first round. Brad Jones will get better but I would like youth and speed at ILB. Hawk and Jones are good tacklers though.
    Thanks Ted!

I'd be ok with TT taking him in R5.
As much emphasis as they put on defense in the draft 2 years ago (Perry, Worthy, Hayward, Daniels, Manning, McMillian, etc.) I still feel like the defense needs more playmakers. TT has to address that.

Yes I hope that TT is thinking BPA on 'D' early and then that he opens it up.

BPA on both sides of the ball.

No longer the member of any fan clubs. I'm tired of jinxing players out of the league and into obscurity.

    My thoughts exactly!
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.
