My take aways from the game:

Elliot had already made the squad but had his best 5 snap streak in this game. I think its too early to call him a major find but he's a good football player.

Janis is good enough right now to contribute. He's definitely not the detail-oriented route craftsman that we're used to seeing but in the meantime he can make a career on having everyone misjudge his speed. Nobody takes a good angle on him. What really has me excited though was seeing him catch a very contested ball over his shoulder for his touchdown. As the 5th or 6th WR on this team doing that is the only way to make an impact. I think he can be used in a poor man's Cordarrelle Patterson type of role and also a Robert Meachem type of 9 route specialist role.

I also think Myles White makes us keep 6 WR. He's looking very polished and smooth and a great 2nd slot guy on a team with a hairy split TE situation. On top of that he's got at least as much special teams utility as Janis. He's made a few nice tackles in the coverage teams this preseason.

Of all the bums we mined (2012 © Wist) this season I'm most excited about Pennel. For a rookie he looks outstanding as a point man. Stays square, stays on his feet, and knows where to position himself to poop in an offenses Cheerios. He needs conditioning, he needs reps, but I think he and Boyd can be the Tandom that Raji and Pickett were supposed to become.

Bradford held up, did what he was supposed to. He had good coverage on the TD he gave up and for the most part made his tackles but basically played very conservatively. Not sure if that's smart for a guy in his situation.

In obvious pass situations we had our guys lined up in a 4-2. With the OLBs putting their hands on the ground. I saw some real wide 4 point stances even. I'm thinking the coaching staff likes its dogs this year.

Mulumba hasn't taken a step forward. He's still a physical dude and doesn't look fun to block. I think he's firmly behind Elliot and probably Palmer because of his versatility. Assuming Palmer isn't going on IR.

Sherrod is a much worse run blocker than Bak. I don't think reps will ever fix that part of his game. He's just too nice guy like Clifton was.

Jarrett Bush being the best player on the field actually makes me hate him more. What a goddamn tease.

Where were all these good safeties and running backs 3 years ago?????
