Official GameDay Thread Week 2: Jets @ Packers

Its a repeat of 2011! Soft n' small. Weak and unenthusiastic! Logey (see 8th post) and perfunctory!

Tom Oates, Peter King, wist and the entire cast of that Lombardi play are convinced the Packers have mucked up their defense beyond repair.

PFF listed only Sam Shields as having a decent performance and we KNOW he was overpaid! Red is driving around Lambeau looking for Packer player personnel people to tell them exactly what he thinks of their signing of Burnett to his contract. He is also looking to get Jarret Bush's autograph now that he has passed into the trusted but limited vet phase of his career.

So tune in to the thread for the end of the season game (only 10.2% of teams make the playoffs after going 0-2) just for the fun of learning all those folks were right.

Or you could trust the guy who defends Sherrod, Jones and Perry (PFF had him as a positive last week!) when he tells you the above people don't really know what is going on and at most, they might be accidentally 40% right.

    Packers 31, Jets 17

A lot of those games against some poor Packer teams. Packers 1-5 from 1973-1991. 2-3 since then.

A little nervous about this one as NYJ are in that physical mold type team with a running QB. We always have difficulty with that.

I don't typically think of Geno Smith as a rushing QB, but he did have 10 rushes for 38 yards last week. Didn't see the game, so I don't know if these were read-options or scrambles.

In AR's last full season (2012) he ran 54 times in 16 games. Smith ran 72 times in 16 games in 2013.

He ran a lot more at the end of last year though. He hadn't run more than 6 times in a game--until the last three games. He's ran it 10 times in each of the last three games.

The Jets are the underdogs from hell IMO. All their strengths are our biggest weaknesses.

    inactives should be interesting

AR needs to get into some rhythm. While the JETS DBs are poor, we should start with bubble screens, end arounds, slants and rb screens if Jets are aggressive. A good dose of Lacy and the Offense should overcome the Defense's ability to keep teams around. I think it'll be close in the 3rd Q and we'll take it from there.
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.
