So, i go to see the last hobbit movie, just to see how it ends (you know, since it almost has nothing to do with the book)

And then this teaser comes on during the previews



And i creamed my pants a bit. I was a huge fan of the originals, then not so much after the prequels. But it looks like the new movie will have a different feel to it, which is great. more of that new star trek look and feel and less, whatever the fuck lucas did in the prequels

Not Obi Wan, but the Obi wan role - the old wise geezer ROLE. Anywho, I am excited to see Leia adjust her dentures and Han Solo sample various Depends diapers. Should be as exciting as the return of Sexy Karen Allen as the elderly Marion Ravenwood in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Why not just make another Cocoon sequel instead?

I am also very excited. The story lines after episode 6 are a bit strange, so I wonder how it all plays out.

They've already got a black stormtrooper who also happens to be a race baiter, so I'm guessing we'll get to see a gay wookie traveling the universe in the name of social justice by improving school lunch programs. Also, the wookie will wear Darth Vader's old helmet which it found floating in the Death Star debris. The look will be so powerful that it awakens Luke's diminishing force, which he will insert into said wookie, and together they will travel the stars in a wonderful spaceship they acquire through Imperial imminent domain.

Not fan fiction, but the Star Wars canon from novels and comics some of which have been set in the events after ROTJ.

They go from Fett clones to human recruits + new clones of the best human recruits to only human recruits to more diverse recruits as time goes on.

Every one of those changes was essentially forced, not strategic. As the Empire's influence lessened they lost cloning facilities and had to draw from a larger and larger pool of recruits so they had to lower their standards. First allowing women, then humans-like aliens, then pretty much anything that could fit in the armor. Eventually the Empire goes from a human-male supremacy group who enslaves aliens to a diverse group that even has humanitarian peace corps type missions to win hearts and minds.

If you need an explanation for the armor assume its has value as symbol or has some function the 99.9% of the time they aren't fighting.

Well, the social justice/star dork crossover crowd was quick to label everyone and anyone who asked why a stromtrooper is black a racist. Then Ungabunga Ombogwe or whatever the black stormtrooper's name is tweeted something like - "Yeah, there's a black storm trooper, get used to it," while also claiming to be very excited as a huge fan of the star wars universe. So instead of simply explaining that he wasn't the a racially ambiguous jenga! fett clone because the stormtroopers are no longer clones, he decided to play the part of race baiter. So, now everyone who doesn't know the finer details of Star Wars lore is a racist. Including you. Dirty racist.

I didn't know about that. I also didn't expect being the new face of the disposable and incompetent space soldier would be such a win for black pride. I feel like he missed a bigger opportunity for outrage somewhere in there.
