Well of course. What I was trying to get at was why, and in my couple posts I suggested two causes:
1. The loss of common courtesy.
2. His failure to realize the consequences of his actions.
I was not excusing him.

This thread sucks. A strong football player throws a hard punch at a woman. If our society still cared about the difference between sexes, this wouldn't even be debated. Did she call him a name? HORRORS! Did she raise her fist? OH NO! Did she 'knee' him? SAY IT AINT SO! But the guy decks a woman and people are debating it. I guess in today's egalitarian and uniform cis-trans-fluid everything goes society they both should get arrested for drunk and disorderly.
