I didn't hear anything resembling a melody in that noise in that half time show. It looked like a workout video.

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
Halftime shows don't interest me much. That said, I don't need to watch it, so I don't see why they need to get rid of it.
As for the Prince show, my sister said, "Gotta admit it. That little pervert is pretty talented." She was right.
Prince was at least interesting visually, even if you aren't a fan. Or not, if you are not a fan of guitar phalluses.
And that was a problem with Coldplay. Boring to watch on stage. Doesn't help that it was daylight. Much harder to be surprised or have dramatic elements.

Biggest problem: Had to be salvaged by two previous Super Bowl headliners. Not a great thing for your main act.
