Told player we would sign him for $500 bonus. He said "I only have about $100 now but can get you rest in a week.” I said “No, we pay you.”
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

For what it's worth, I was driving late at night a few weeks ago and stumbled across a sports program on the radio... they were talking with a "former scout" (don't know who it was) about "sleepers" in the draft and he mentioned Callahan. Said the kid had a live arm, great touch and anticipation... said he had a real chance to stick on an NFL roster. I found a clip of him on youtube, and he sure looked like he could fling a ball.

Anyone have any info on him?? Saw he was listed at 6'1, 215 lbs, and threw for a ton of yds and TDs at the lower levels.

A picture (or moving pictures) is worth a thousand words. Can someone here break down what you see from Callahan in these highlights? The first few throws in the video show off a really nice, accurate deep ball. Seems to drop it in a basket, with decent coverage from the D. He seems to trust his arm to get the ball to his receiver, even in contested spaces. Also seems to have some scrambling ability as well.

Does he dominate enough at this level to make you impressed with his talent relative to competition?

Here's an article about the Packers interest in him: http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packe...377206321.html

That was the only video I could find of him too... I agree with the scout, he looks to have a live arm and great touch.

    He's an interesting signing.

Two guys may not have passed the physical:

Green Bay - The Packers announced the signing of 19 undrafted rookies, two fewer than the Journal Sentinel had reported as agreeing to terms this past week.

Two of the players - Georgia Tech safety Demond Smith and Alcorn State cornerback Warren Gatewood -- were not on the list and not at practice Friday morning.

Typically, it means that there was an injury concern the Packers had and so they voided the agreement.

    Thanks for the video.

    Comment woodbuck27:

Packer QB Prospect Joe Callahan is 6' 1" Tall and weighs 216 lbs RE: LINK above.

He has a solid accurate arm and good vision. He's not fast (a 4.9 - 5.08... 40 ) yet athletic and scrambles well. He's instinctive and patient and can find a play with his arm or feet when under pressure.

" In case you missed my D3 Football Preseason All-American list, I’m pretty high on Joe Callahan. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound senior from Wesley is poised to have another stellar season, following another one last year. The gunslinger amassed the second most yards of offense (4,190) and touchdowns (46) in the nation, which put him right behind Mount Union’s Kevin Burke (4,412 and 52). He also completed 300-of-463 passes for a stellar passing efficiency rating of 169.3 and led the nation with 10 games of over 300 passing yards. The kid is a senior this year, and in the high-powered Wesley offense? All bets are off. "

Division III standout QB Joe Callahan among Packers' 19 undrafted rookies

    May 6, 2016

Rob Demovsky ... ESPN Staff Writer

" Joe Callahan, QB, Wesley College (6-1, 216): Non-combine invitee who made a pre-draft visit to the Packers. Won the Gagliardi Trophy given best football player in Division III. Became the only D-III quarterback to throw for 5,000 yards in a single season (he threw for 5,036). He also threw 55 touchdowns last season, the second most in D-III history."

He may not become a Packer but he would do just fine in the CFL. The only thing I see that might preclude him from making the NFL is his size.I like his athleticism and instincts to play the position. His vision and focus is impressive.

    http://www.draftinsider.net/reports/...B/Josh-Hawkins

    Josh Hawkins
    School: East Carolina
    Position: CB

Positive: Two-year starter who finished with a career-best 5 INT's and 11 PBUs as a junior. Athletic cornerback prospect that flashes ball skills. Effective facing the action, shows good route recognition in zone coverage and quickly locates the ball in the air. Has a nice move to the throw, correctly times his pass defenses and physically beats down opponents to break up passes. Works to get off blocks and make plays against the run.

Negative: Lacks the great closing burst. Has questionable deep speed. Struggles making plays with his back to the ball.

Analysis: Hawkins offers solid size and can line up in dime situations where he's facing the action.

    http://www.draftinsider.net/reports/2016/RB/Don-Jackson

    Don Jackson
    School: Nevada
    Position: RB

Positive: Junior-college transfer who's started the past two seasons, posting a career-best 1082 yards rushing and 8 TDs as a senior. Short but creative ball carrier with next level potential. Runs with good lean, patient and sets up defenders then makes them miss. Quick footed, sidesteps piles and possesses the agility necessary to turn the corner. Sees the field, finds the running lanes and has a burst which he turns on in a single step. Terrific job helping the quarterback sell ball fakes, displays good blocking vision and a solid pass catcher out of the backfield.

Negative: Not a back that's going to pick up much yardage off initial contact. Cannot beat defenders into the open field or run to daylight.

Analysis: Productive the past two seasons, Jackson projects as a third-down back/situational runner on Sunday.

    http://www.draftinsider.net/reports/...Reggie-Gilbert

    Reggie Gilbert
    School: Arizona
    Position: DE

Positive: Three-year starter that's lined up at both defensive tackle and defensive end. All-Conference selection as a senior after 41 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Somewhat underrated defensive line prospect with decent upside. Plays with balance, rarely off his feet and moves well laterally chasing the action. Uses his hands to protect himself, plays low to the ground and keeps his feet moving on contact. Holds his ground against blocks or plays off them altogether to get to the action.

Negative: Lacks bulk, easily knocked from the action by a single opponent or removed from the point. Possesses a poor closing burst.
Analysis: Gilbert was out of position at and in Arizona's three-man line last season but is a prospect who should only get better as he physically matures and adds strength to his frame

    A funny story.

Here's something on UDFA LB Manoa Pikula:

2016 NFL Draft: BYU LB Manoa Pikula signs UDFA deal with the Green Bay Packers

    By: Kevin Kennedy  @Kevin4byu on Apr 30, 2016, 4:02p

" Pikula played inside linebacker for the Cougars from 2011-2015 and improved his stock each year. Over his career, he recorded 81 solo tackles, 63 assisted tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, five pass deflections, and an interception. With 144 total tackles to his name, 55 of them came in his senior year."
