Packers lose one from their scouting deapartment

    To the Browns:

Additionally, the Browns named Glenn Cook, who spent the previous four years in Green Bay’s player personnel department, as their new Assistant Director of Scouting.

    His Green Bay bio:

Glenn Cook enters his fourth year with the Packers’ pro personnel department in 2015. He joined the team May 23, 2012, as a pro scout. Cook assists in the evaluation of college and professional players, prepares advance scouting reports of upcoming opponents, conducts tryouts during the season and evaluates pro day/draft prospects during the spring.

The 30-year-old Cook came to Green Bay by way of Indianapolis, where he worked as a scouting assistant for the Colts from June 2011 until he joined the Packers. Prior to his arrival in Indianapolis, Cook served as a graduate assistant coach in 2011 at his alma mater, the University of Miami (Fla.), where he assisted with the Hurricanes’ linebackers and defensive line. He also assisted with recruiting, specifically the Class of 2013, and broke down game film as a volunteer with Miami in 2010.

Cook was a four-year letterman (2004-06, 2008) for the Hurricanes at linebacker, appearing in 47 games with 17 starts during his career. He recorded 185 tackles (96 solo), including 23½ tackles for a loss, 16 quarterback pressures, two sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and five passes defensed. Cook scored two touchdowns during his career on fumble recoveries (at Georgia Tech in 2006, at Texas A&M in 2008).

Cook was one of three team captains as a senior in ’08 and paced the team with a career-high 76 tackles (44 solo), including eight stops for a loss. He started all 13 games at middle linebacker and received the Plumer Memorial Award (leadership, motivation, spirit) and Dale Melching Award (leadership) at the team’s awards banquet at the conclusion of the season.

Cook missed the entire 2007 season due to a foot injury sustained on the second day of training camp. As a junior in ’06, he started 11 games and posted 64 tackles (32 solo), including four tackles for a loss, seven QB pressures and two passes defensed on his way to being named the team’s Linebacker of the Year.

Cook earned a B.A. in marketing and management at Miami and also holds a master’s degree from the school in sport administration, which he finished in his final season.

Born in Miami, Cook attended Chaminade-Madonna College Prep in Hollywood, Fla., where he teamed with New York Giants LB Jon Beason and Seattle Seahawks CB Cary Williams to help lead the team to the state championship game in 2002. Cook was rated the No. 26 linebacker in the nation by SuperPrep and was named to the Florida Top 100 by the Orlando Sentinel. As a junior in 2001, he registered 85 tackles, including 10 for a loss, and five sacks. Cook also was a center fielder for the baseball team.

After not being selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, Cook was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 46th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. He went on to appear in 34 games for the Cubs’ rookie-league team in Mesa, Ariz., in 2009. Cook resides in Green Bay.

Harv, send your resume to TT now!
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

I was going to say it's a smart move by the Browns, but a pro scout in the Packers personnel department just has to say 'Don't sign this guy.' most of the time, with the occasional 'Only sign if he's cheap.' thrown in.
Fire Murphy, Gute, MLF, Barry, Senavich, etc!

So tell us, who were high on the list of potential FAs for the Packers, Glenn?

Well, it was a pretty short list.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

'I do still get the first two weeks of free agency off though, right. We really didn't pick up a phone till week three in green Bay. "
