McGinn's writing that was based on watching film was outstanding. I wonder if anyone else will be willing to put the work in that he did. I just get the feeling that all the beat writers covering the Packers now are going to sound pretty much the same. I was critical of some of the stuff he wrote in recent years, but I was still glad he was doing it.

    ding ding ding

Why would anybody celebrate McGinn leaving just because he has strong opinions you sometimes disagree? Distinctive personalities are good. He was very serious about his job, and has a wealth of knowledge about how the Packers and NFL have operated in the past. He's smart.

I don't lament the ditching of all old-timers. Not to mention any names - Bud Lea - but some guys have lot of knowledge but are kinda bland.

That's another old timer who added personality - too opinionated for some.

    Old-timers who are opinionated...
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

Ketchman, unike McGinn, is a colossal dope.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
