I have to believe that it was a move that says to his next employer "I did a good job in New York, but really, the QB was on the skids, etc. etc." Excuse making. That's just a guess.
Coordinators (offensive and defensive) most often don't translate to successful Head Coaches. Belichek is the exception that proves the rule.
