In a recent article, it was discovered that some artificial field surfaces may contain lead harmful to the players using it.

As more and more high schools and colleges have multiple use of fields, they are heading more for installing artificial field surfaces because it requires less maintenance and in the long run, is cheaper than a natural grass surface.

Our local high school uses the same FieldTurf surface for football, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey.

The article notes that FieldTurf is NOT one of the artificial surfaces that pose a potential lead hazard in ground up rubber particles.
