So far this Presidency-elect of Obama has been an unmitigated disaster. History will not look kindly on these times. To wit.

1. The Obama Hurricane brewing in the Carribean.

At 10 a.m. today, Tropical Storm Paloma's sustained winds had strengthened slightly to 45 mph. It was in the Caribbean about 265 miles southwest of Grand Cayman, moving northwest at 7 mph. Because the forecast track was shifted slightly to the south, the Keys are no longer in the cone of uncertainty. The system still is expected to hit Cuba on Sunday as a Category 2 hurricane.
2. The Obama Recession.

Wall Street extends decline as jobless claims, retailers' sales fan recession worries
NEW YORK (AP) -- Wall Street recoiled again Thursday, sending stocks lower for a second straight day as new readings on retail sales and jobless claims fanned investors' worries that the economy is in recession.
New claims for unemployment benefits did dip by 4,000 to a seasonally adjusted level of 481,000, according to the Labor Department. But jobless claims above 400,000 are considered recessionary levels, and have run above that figure for 16 weeks. Also, long-term claims jumped to 3.84 million, the highest level in 25 years. The numbers arrive a day ahead of the key October jobs report, a widely watched barometer of the economy's health.
3. The Obama failure in Russian policy.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian President Dmitry Medvedev could resign from his post in 2009 to pave the way for Vladimir Putin to return to the Kremlin, Vedomosti newspaper reported on Thursday, citing an unidentified source close to the Kremlin.
Medvedev Wednesday proposed increasing the presidential term to six years from four years, a step the newspaper said was part of a plan drawn up by Vladislav Surkov, who serves as Medvedev's first deputy chief of staff.
