Official Bucs vs Packers Gameday Thread

It’s the Battle of the Bays!

Today’s contest of (6-7) and heavily injured teams normally wouldn’t mean too much in the NFL.

But TB is sitting atop the parity pile in the NFC South.
And GB is sitting along side 4 other (6-7) teams for the chance to take the last wildcards.

In reality - the playoffs start today folks!

    Key questions:
    • Will Aaron Jones come back and get limited action - testing the MCL on a non frozen tundra?
    • Will the porous Packers rushing defense again leave Love and co playing from behind on a short clock? TB’s RB, White, has had a productive month and could be the key today.
    • Which injured team can foster a stronger squad? With folks like Quay, Savage, Stokes and Jaire (bruised vag) all questionable on one Defense and Vita Vea, Davis and others hurt for TB’s D.

But most importantly for a young Packers team - are they driving while looking through the rear view mirror? Love has brought the team back many times in the 4th Q only to leave w/ a couple comebacks. What kinda game would we be talking about had we beaten the Giants (or the other 4 close losses)?

    Point of emphasis:
    1. Ole Joey ‘bag of shit’ Barry better figure a way to generate any pressure and keep White in check.
    2. Love and his injured offense has to start fast and be in a race to 28+ points.
    3. And for fucks sake - can we just not end up talking about Special Teams blunders or referee’s outsized impacts on games?

It’s impossible to predict how a young, injured team will play. Will we come out dominating on offense and beating Todd Rundgren’s drum all day or start preparing for the draft? Because a loss today may be the nail in the 2023 coffin.

    Green Bay 28
    Tampa Bay 23

Love holds onto this week’s 4th q comeback and the defense does just enough to keep us in the playoff discussion.

    Go pack!
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.

    Go Pack Go!
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

What is this a Tampa Bay fan website? Packers comes before the opponent in the game day thread title.

    No way.

Home team is always listed last. It’s how I did it last year and it worked until the Lions crushed our souls.

Packers expected to have Aaron Jones but not A.J. Dillon.

It’s a damn good opening post for the game day thread, Fosco. Good information, laying it all out for us.

They just don’t make em like they used to. I broken finger for a running back. Ok - so don’t throw it to him. Or bring him and AJ in and treat him like a fullback.

Him and Jaire need to watch some old school nfl tape.

I think they're probably worried about fumbles. They're probably not looking to give Jones a ton of carries, so they need guys who can carry the ball.

Could be a slick field with occasional showers now and Temps in upper 30's during game. Hopefully Bucs wear wrong cleats.

Zero fucks about gambling lines. Too lazy to drive 30 minutes to GB to place bets. Wish I could place bets on an app.

Illinois and Michigan, both midwestern states full of Germans, both have legalized sports betting (among other forms of gambling), marijuana and prostitution, but Wisconsin - also a midwestern state full of Germans - remains in the pre-dark ages. SMH.

    Packers inactives:

    9 WR Christian Watson
    23 CB Jaire Alexander
    26 S Darnell Savage
    28 RB AJ Dillon
    57 LB Brenton Cox Jr.
    72 T Caleb Jones
    83 WR Samori Toure

Put Jaire and Savage on IR and let’s just be done with them for this year.
Not surprised Dillon couldn’t make a go of it.
How many plays will Jones and Stokes (is he off IR yet?) last until they’re hurt again?

Wow. With Watson out, Toure still can’t make the game-day roster. He’s fallen down the charts.

Incredible job of formatting I must say. But you have a point so giving him a 9.5 out of 10 for not using @ instead of &. Otherwise it is AP worthy.

Not sure I like the parallels here.

Anyway, Jones in, Dillon out. Bucs are monsters against the run. We need to win this game so Bowles is available after the season to be a DC for us.

My prediction is that Jones is mostly bottled up, but breaks one big game changing run. I could speculate who makes key blocks, but I'll just let that on play out. Love is likely to throw the ball 35 times today and Tucker Kraft will probably need to have the best TE game for a packer in 2 years.

A couple momentum type things in our favor. Bucs play a style of offense that we do OK against. We are at home. We probably got a wakeup call last week. I'm predicting a game that is uncomfortable to watch, but Packers find a way to win. Skin suspiciously gets too busy with his active personal life to post all week after.

I didn't realize White was injured. That should help us run a little more effectively.

    about Aaron Jones:

“It’s going to be a situation where we have to monitor throughout the game. I wouldn’t expect him to get his normal work load.”

Mentioned “if he could give us 15-20 plays” that would be great.
