    Actually, you're quite right. Whippets tend to be attention hogs. They'll 'demand' to be petted, and will sulk if they don't get it. Also, like all sight hounds, are more pack dogs, tend to have more separation anxiety if you've only got one. When our last grey passed away, it was really hard on her.

    Deerhounds, and all sighthounds are extremely hard on cats. Deerhounds are not terribly healthy, and tend to be a short lived breed. 10 years at the outside, I believe.

    Labs are what you make of them. Fit or fat, smart, or stupid. I've never met one that didn't take on the characteristics of its owner. Had one neighbor who was in a car accident and hurt her foot badly. Her yellow lab started to limp - no shit!

    Sounds like you've made your decision, can't say I've ever heard of them.

    They're great with kids - and burglars! The biggest issue in Germany is they're becoming increasingly inbred and suffer from chronic hereditary ailments. It stems from false pride; Germans believe they have the ultimate dogs and refuse to reimport fresh blood. It's criminal, IMHO.

    It's now ilegal to dock dogs in Germany. It is so weird seeing Dobermen with long tails!

    And no to the mini-pin. My parents just found a new home with my idiot cousin after 5 years of torment with theirs. The thing was yippy, obnoxious, stank-ass, and useless all rolled into one. She even managed to do something to their decrepit german shepard that caused her to grab the little fucker in her jaws, shake her, and toss her into the corner - the only time the shepard has ever shown any kind of aggression toward anything. Honestly, we all hoped she was going to die. Unfortunately, she only suffered a gash to her shoulder and she learned to STFU more often. And she had a habit of running off. She was one shitty dog.
