I started playing hockey and became an NHL fan at 9 years of age. I saw the great Rocket Richard and Gordie Howe and some of the very toughest all time players. I wonder how accurate this video will be !?

In terms of hockey fighting and the real deal we're talking "the Enforcer" not just "the Goon".

This video features ten (10) of the top enforcers all time. I'm actually viewing this right now and will comment on it's accuracy when I've viewed it in it's entirety.

If you want to be entertained check out this article; and certainly for a great hockey fight look at #6 or the part on Marty McSorley and his long scrap Vs Louie DeBrusk.

Marty McSorely had the primary job of protecting "the Great One ...Wayne Gretzky". He was a fine choice for that assignment:

    WOW !

For NO. 1 Bob Probert feature video and Probert Vs Ty Domi fight.

Overall this list is OK but it misses out on some really tough hockey fighters.

Guys like Stu " the Grim Wreaker" Grimson and Dave Semenko should be here.

How did he forget the HABS John Ferguson? In 1963–64, he was promoted to the Canadiens as an "enforcer" to protect captain Jean Beliveau from aggressive defenders—merely twelve seconds into his first NHL game, he was in a fight with another really tough guy in Ted Green of the Boston Bruins; Ferguson won the fight.

It was said that his unexpected retirement in 1971 caused problems for the Canadiens, who then started getting roughed up by other teams.

Then there was an outstanding fighter in Orland Kurtenbach and again from Cudworth, Saskatchewan and who played for Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins from 1954–1974.

This guy named Mr. Hockey could also scrap with the very best of them. Well no one fought Gordie Howe. That would simply be really stupid.

Add for the 2000's Georges Laraque:

Can we add Marc Laforge to the list? I saw the (in)famous fight that got him a lifetime ban from the OHL!

Gordie Howe beat the heck out of guys without even fighting them, he played such a physical style of game.

Fighting does seem to have crept back into the game, despite the league's best efforts to eradicate it.

More notable this year is the 'cup checks' that have been going on! The latest is by the King's goalie, Jonathan Quick

A rough tough game in Montreal tonight with the HABS scoring an empty net goal and defeat the Boston Bruins 4-2.

The 1st STAR was P.K. Subban.

He played marvellously and was all over the ice scoring one goal and assisting on another. That's six points in three games in this series now led by the Montreal Canadians two games to one.

Carey Price was again solid and as cool as a cucumber getting the 3rd STAR.

The HABS outshot the Bruins to the tune of about 30 to 20. Surprizingly they came out skating really fast and banging the Bruins all over the ice. They took the Bruins game and turned it back on them.

Thursday night's game at the Bell Center will be something else. The Bruins will certainly be all set to tie the series at 2-2 and head it back home to Boston for Saturday and the rubber.

Here's a story I found that mentions Marc LaForge when he played for the San Antonio Iguanas (Circa 1999).He ran up a few penalties that season.
