Minnesota to host 2018 Super Bowl

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10...owl-nfl-owners

Pretty bad choice. I've been to games in Minnesota and there is not a whole lot to do. Plus the weather sucks. I'd rather go to New Orleans if I was going to the Super Bowl.

and...what if there are more stadium delays? Seems chancy.

This is all about rewarding Minnesota for putting up a lot of taxpayer money to help build a new stadium.

And as the cherry on top, none of the local taxpayers will be able to attend.

That's good that an NFCN team was awarded this opportunity.

I wish it was the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau though.

Does that make Packer fans Tusken Raiders?

The stadium should be done for the 2016-17 season, so that would have to be a hell of a delay to have it not ready.

Is the city building it? Sometimes they take longer than 2 1/2 years to fill a pothole.

The Vikes have to play the next 2 seasons in the Gophers stadium that only holds about 52k (even after the Vikes pay for more seating) which is about 13k lower than the new stadium. The Vikes oweners want this thing done in a hurry and start reaping the $ benefits. It would take a huge issue or event to not have this thing ready in 2016. The Wilfs will lose too much $ if it's not.
All hail the Ruler of the Meadow!

Wonderful. A SB played in a huge greenhouse.

That is not be feasible at the moment. The area doesn't have the infrastructure or the lodging required.

It will be done. They have one part of it started while they are still clearing away the rubble from the other side. Lots of construction activity...and lots of money involved.

The Vikings are motivated to get it done.

The TCF Bank stadium (Gophers play there) isn't big/fancy enough for pro games to some people, plus it's outdoors. Watching the Vikings play outside in January doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me, and I'm not sure it will be for the players either. They used to play outside in the Met, but the schedule wasn't stretched into Jan/Feb like it is now.

Goodell gave it to Minny because it will be in a shiny new stadium that they can show off to the world, and they can't always play in Nawlins.

Ya, it should be ready, there's really no reason it wouldn't be. But

    Not saying, just saying.

The whole process up until now has been so messed up, why would that change?
