Thread: Head Coach Exit Watch - Five NFL head coaches who will be fired. Really?

Doing more digging on Broncos opening - would actually be very surprised if they went in-house, including Gase. Won't be M. Shanahan either

@smartfootball Chris Cooley just said on the radio that he thinks Manning will be the head coach. I fell out of my chair.

Every year 49ers didn't win the Super Bowl after their 1st, Eddie DeBartolo had to be talked out of firing Bill Walsh. It's a mean business.

ITS ALSO A DUMB OWNER IF HE ACTS ON THAT IMPULSE. IF HE TRULY BELIEVED HE SHOULD, THE REPORTING IT AT THE TIME WOULD HAVE MADE HIS SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF HIS TEAM MORE UNDERSTANDABLE.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post has the Broncos as not even considering letting Fox go until they heard the Fox sports report on Sunday morning. They became concerned, apparently, that John Fox's camp "leaked" that information because he wanted to move on. Bizarre.

#Broncos had not considered dismissing Fox, but became concerned by a Fox Sports report Sunday morning http://dpo.st/17BEvOe via @MikeKlis

WOW! A lot going on in Denver!

I'm just trying to comprehend it all and how it may relate to Peyton Manning's decline in the second half of the season. That clearly related to the quad injury to his right leg that was obviously played way down.

    Get a load of this:

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2014...t-month-season

" Since the Broncos' Nov. 16 loss in St. Louis, Manning topped 300 yards passing just once -- in a "Monday Night Football" loss in Cincinnati -- over the final six games of the regular season.

Over the final nine games of the regular season, six of those on the road, the Broncos went 6-3 as Manning -- who has two more years left on his contract -- threw 17 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. "

".... "I didn't play as well consistently in the second half of the season," (Peyton) Manning said.

" ..." I can't give you a great reason for that. Played well at times, but probably not as consistently, certainly didn't play as consistently in the second half of the season as I did in the first half." ..."

    Comment woodbuck27:

"When first you aim to deceive."

It looks to me as if this is about a mans ego. Well...men EGO's. Surely John Elway knew the full extent of this issue.

In the quote above Peyton Manning tries to cover up...to deceive everyone except those who really knew. They tried their best to keep the TRUTH in a close circle. The TRUTH of the extent of his injury and thus limited ability to perform.

To Peyton Manning and not playing well:

Again..... " I can't give you a great reason for that. " Peyton Manning

How many people did Peyton Manning deceive with his BS!? How many team mates and loyal Bronco fans were let down or deceived? How many NFL fans that have a side related interest ie that great group that bet on the outcome of games?

What a mess of Peyton Manning Bronco shit ! What a mess of John Elway shit !!

    This simply stinks really bad.

He must be on the roster for the 2015 NFL calendar year.

    PB posted that date elsewhere.

    Mid March, I believe.

Elway may not be as smart as he thinks he is.

It's starting to implode and could get worse.

    That roster is pretty old.

Fox, Elway split was a long time coming

" Like 49ers G.M. Trent Baalke and former head coach Jim Harbaugh, Broncos G.M. John Elway and coach John Fox weren’t getting along. Unlike Baalke and Harbaugh, Elway and Fox kept the dysfunction under wraps until very recently. "

Report: John Fox declines to interview with Jets

Posted by Mike Florio on January 12, 2015, 8:49 PM EST

" John Fox won’t be returning to New York.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the former Broncos coach already has declined to interview with the Jets. Which means either that Fox has no interest in joining one of the most dysfunctional franchises in the league or that he has something else lined up. "

    PFT.COM UPDATE 9:18 p.m. ET:

Schefter now says the Jets have informed him that no request to interview Fox was made. Which possibly is semantics. Especially since Fox said “no thanks.”

If I was Adam Case I'd be thinking very hard on any real offer the coach that team in 2015.

I'd want to know exactly what John Elway was planning for the next edition of the Peyton Manning Experiment?

Rex Ryan took the wrong job

Bills have QB void, so second hiring may mean second firing for ex-Jets coach

    Updated: January 11, 2015, 9:12 PM ET

    Comment woodbuck27:

A football team has a problem at the starting QB position. That team of all candidates available hires a HC that has a Rep as not dealing well with QB's and a teams offense in general.

All that matters to Rex is he got hired....and rehired really fast.

John Fox is such a Dallas hire. (If they change up from Garrett.)

I could also see him in Chicago, which would be a pity for us, since he's a decent coach.

Last we learned on this thread and OC in Buffalo was that Rex Ryan liked Marc Trestman for the job. That's not happening.

Broncos players, others shocked by John Fox’s exit as coach

By: Nicki Jhabvala The Denver Post

    Comment woodbuck27:

Obviously John Fox and his coaching staff had an outstanding performance over the course of his four seasons as the Bronco Head Coach. A 46-18 record, four consecutive AFC West titles and a trip to Super Bowl XLVIII is an outstanding record but all the same it comes up short. Life in the Denver Bronco Organization is defined by whether or not your on point in regards to winning the Lombardi Trophy. The John Fox coaching team failed in that endeavour.

This post contains the reactions of various Bronco players etc. to John Fox leaving his position as the Denver Head coach.

Read the comments made by WR Emmanuel Sanders half way down the page. His comments on what is expected in the Denver Bronco Organization; his take on what happened in the crushing loss to the Indy Colts.

I watched that game and it didn't appear to me that Indy's goal to win that game was ever really threatened. Only one team was there on that day to win and it wasn't Denver. It came down to the Broncos executing and as a team they failed miserably before their fans on that day and again failed this season to meet the highest objective.

Bucs hire Dirk Koetter to fill offensive coordinator void

" The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went all season long without their hand-picked offensive coordinator. That won't be the case in 2015.

The team on Thursday announced that former Falcons play-caller Dirk Koetter has been hired to lead Lovie Smith's offense. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Koetter agreed to a two-year deal with a team option for a third. A source informed of the situation told Rapoport that Koetter was Tampa's top choice. "

A carousel to be sure. Just guys moving around and around, it's a safer hire for GMs. New face like Chip Kelly sometimes work out, but for every one of those there's a Steve Spurier or that guy who flopped in Tampa waiting to happen. Why take that chance when Ryan, Fox, Mike Smith, etc are out there? No wonder Dick Vermeil's phone probably still rings.
