    Lance Briggs

Reports have Briggs being released by the Bears.
He did not have a good season, correct.
    1. At 34, he is slipping as a Will - where he has always played.
    2. Injuries.
    3. But living here in Chicago, I couldn't help but notice Brigg's downright disgust with the Trestman regime and that has to be factored in.

I would consider bringing him very reasonable money - and move him to ILB.

    1. He's very instinctive.
    2. The move inside would somewhat counter the step he's lost as a Will. He could easily make the switch; he's a coach on the field.
    3. He could certainly help mentor whoever we draft - and Barrington & Bradford, too.
    4. In an emergency, he could fill in a OLB.
    5. Having another guy with something to prove against the Bears would not hurt.

This is not a long range proposition by any means. But it might just help our new blood manning the middle transition into the job.

I would say no. He can't play at a high level anymore - that's the big difference between Peppers and Briggs. That's why Thompson probably won't consider him.

I would love a wily veteran who can still play and help younger players develop at the position,

Unfortunately, I believe we would get the second coming of Hardy Nickerson.

What about taking a flier on Sean Weatherspoon of Atlanta? He hasn't been healthy the last two years, but he was a good LB before that. Would play ILB in our 3-4. I think he's only ~27 years old.
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

or the second coming of AJ Hawk. A wily veteran who can . . . help younger players develop.

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
