Since we are alre4ady starting to allocate who might make the 53 man circus, I thought I'd go back to 2005 and see how our roster was made up. I know the post is long (pagewise), but maybe you want to cut and paste the positional list and start adding names...

MM was talking about keeping 6 WR last minicamp. I agree with him.

I also agree with 6 WR, the amount of talent that we have for the price it would be foolish to downsize.

Keep 6 WRs on the 53 roster, keep only two QBs or one FB.

There's a good chance they keep 6 wideouts, and they can do it by carrying 9 OL--which is normally what they do.
Clifton, Colledge, Wells, Coston, Tauscher, Barry, Spitz, White are solid bets. The last roster spot will come down to Klemm, Whitticker, Moll, Lucier, etc. I'm betting they keep Klemm because he provides them with security. He's been a decent LT in the past, and i think he's about the only backup on the roster who would be okay as a starter at that crucial spot. Whitticker is not a good fit for this scheme. Moll is practice squad material. The rest are just bodies.

Not much between our rosters harv. Leach, Roman, and the TE are most likely right in your roster. I think Fergie has had it...

There will be a couple of surprises. There always is. I don't think I've ever pegged the full roster this early.
Guys that could get beat out, and who could beat them out.
WR
Gardner (if his atttitude isn't right)
Ferguson (they may decide to dump him for a younger player)
Boerigter (see Ferguson)
Rodgers (he just may not be that good, and somebody else could beat him out as a returner)
RB
Green (injuries)
Davenport (injuries)
FB
Leach (new regime)
TE
Martin (depends what his attitude is like)
OT
Klemm (if a younger player steps up, they may choose to save money here)
OC
White (all of his potential is just hearsay at this point)
DE
Peterson (I think he's probably safe)
DT
Allen (just a wild guess for this spot)
LB
Manning (could be beat out by somebody like Campbell)
CB
Carroll (longshot, but if he doesn't show improvement, he could be gone)
S
Roman (if Underwood, Culver, and/or somebody else shows potential)
ST
None of the specialists are guaranteed a starting gig.

I think Green or Underwood could be surprise cuts.

I just hope Roman isn't on the final roster. It's not that I think there's a guy right now that is better, but if someone doesn't emerge to pass him, that's a weak link right at the starting gate.
