Per article:

First there was Brett Favre as SI's "Sportsman of the Year," a cover that quickly became a collectible item in Wisconsin. Now, on the newsstands tomorrow, is Brett Favre as snowman of the year.

You can now get the "Sportsman of the Year" issue autographed by Favre for $400.

I've been getting SI for like 15 years and that's one of the coolest covers I can remember.

Not if you pray hard enough to St. Vincent for protection against the SI Jinx! :)

Goddamnit, we're jinxed.

The jinx only factors into the equation when you are on the cover PRESEASON or on the cover of some VIDEO GAME. When your own great play in the playoffs puts you on the cover, it is not viewed by the football gods as a jinxable offense.

When the snow started coming down, you just knew a pic from that game was going to make the cover. Frankly, it should have been Grant with the hurdle.

Yep.

Antonio Freeman's over the shoulder catch with the caption "Green Bay All The Way"...as SI was predicting them to win the Super Bowl.

So was Brian Urlacher with the caption "Waitin' for Peyton"

But, hell, it's the Bears. They're destined to lose at everything anyway.

You have to remember...SI is trying to maximize their sales.

So, putting the Bears (and a 10M metropolis and legendary NFL team) on the cover over Indy (2M city without much of a fan base outside of IN) isn't really a big stretch.

I'm sure they realize that the Patriots are likely to be on the cover prior to the Super Bowl...and with the incredible success of the SOY issue with Favre, it was a no-brainer for them to put Favre on the cover rather than Eli or LT.

SI ain't dumb. Favre is on the cover for one reason...$$$$$$$$$.

Still won the Super Bowl.

Clearly, the SI cover was designed by Zig and 007...as the words "Love it" are right over Favre's crotch.

Don't belittle the SI cover jinx! It has been around since before video game jinxes, even if you believe PONG was killing someone's season in 1978.

I suggest sending your copies to me, I will be sure to dispose of them properly.
