It's early in 2008, but here's an instant classic

Barak Obama's preacher, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, says of Bill Clinton and the African-American community:

Some argue that blacks should vote for Clinton "because her husband was good to us. That's not true. He did the same thing to us that he did to Monica Lewinsky."

I say, "Preach, preacher!"

You'll need to define sex first.

No doubt. He could have gotten her modern day equivalent in Anna Nicole Smith. Back then she was smokin'.

He balanced her budget???

Congress is in charge of putting together the budget, not the president.

I get so tired of people attributing the balanced budget to Bill Clinton...when it was NEWT GINGRICH and the Republicans who won in 2004 on a platform that had a balanced budget as its chief concern.

If it was up to Bill and Hillary, we'd have had socialized health care in 2003...and we damn well would not have had a balanced budget.

Oh, quit trying to make a serious thread out of this. We're trying to have fun with that line. There are 100 threads in the romper room to fight politics in.

Uh, what are you talking about. Newt hasn't been in gov't since 98.

Budget: The president puts forth a budget. What are you talking about.

Try reading up on both the "Contract with America" and the Constitution.

The Republican controlled Congress was the one voted into office in 1994 under the mandate of a balanced budget, not Clinton in 1992. They were the ones that took action at bringing the US budget into balance...not Clinton. Clinton wisely recognized the mandate that the country gave the Congress in 1994 and to his credit worked with the Republican Congress...which produced a very robust and healthy economy.

Article I of the Constitution clearly gives Congress the primary responsibility regarding governance of the daily functions of the US government, which is what the budget is all about. When they don't get the budget done in time, the government shuts down...which has happened several times in recent history.

it's amusing how the spin doctors used to call Bill Clinton the "first black president", but now all of a sudden he and Hilary are racists

I know how things work, but your statement implied the prez had nothing to do with balancing the budget. Not true.

And, your viewpoint is just that, a viewpoint.

More importantly, you said 2003. Your dates are...well, i'm not sure what you are referring to.

I'm confused.

I can't believe that 1993 was really 15 years ago.

He signs his name on it when it is done...that's about it.

The point wasn't that Clinton played some kind of role. The point was that Clinton certainly did not make a balanced budget an objective of his until AFTER the 1994 elections, which so happened to be a huge win for the GOP on a platform that championed budget reform. He was more or less forced into that by the American people.

It is about time the American people stand up again and tell Washington we are tired of free trade that takes jobs out of America and monetary policy that seeks to devalue the greenback.
