Bummer...I believe he was the member of the Steel Curtain that had the arrow shaved in his head...pointing at the QB!...damn, he was only 59.

REPORTS: EX-STEELER ERNIE HOLMES DIES by Michael David Smith

Ernie Holmes, a defensive tackle who was part of the Pittsburgh Steelers' Steel Curtain defense of the 1970s, has died, the Associated Press and ESPN are reporting. He was 59.

According to the AP, Holmes was driving alone Thursday night when his car left the roadway and rolled over several times near Lumberton, Texas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said today that Holmes was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Holmes was a two-time All Pro who played for the Steelers from 1972 to 1977. He won Super Bowl rings after the 1974 and 1975 seasons. He finished his career in 1978 with the New England Patriots.
