The Green Bay Packers today confirmed the signing of 13 street free agents to futures contracts, including all eight players who finished last season on their practice squad.

Also in the group were punter Ryan Dougherty, who was with the Packers for the final month of training camp last year, and quarterback Jerry Babb, who was with the team for part of last offseason.

Besides Babb, the Packers signed a second quarterback in Dalton Bell, who played in college at West Texas A&M, went to training camp last year with Carolina, and was on the Packers’ practice squad for one week last September.

The eight players signed who finished last season on the practice squad are receiver Chris Francies, linebacker Spencer Havner, guard Ryan Keenan, defensive tackle Alfred Malone, defensive back Joe Porter, guard Cameron Stephenson, tackle Cliff Washburn and running back Corey White.

The Packers also signed tackle Chris Patrick, who finished last season on the practice squad’s injured reserve.

The 13th player signed was receiver Johnny Quinn, a first-year player from North Texas State who spent part of last offseason with Buffalo.

Say what you will about Thompson and unresricted free agents, but it can never be said that Thompson doesn't take the scrap heap serious enough :)

I think his scraps have done pretty well and you probably shouldn't mock them this way...

I would expect most teams are expanding their offseason rosters right now...it isn't just Thompson.
