DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - The Miami Dolphins signed cornerback Joey Thomas on Friday.

Thomas was a third-round draft pick in 2004 by Green Bay, where he spent his entire rookie season. He spent part of 2005 with the New Orleans Saints, and was with the Dallas Cowboys during training camp last season.
The 27-year-old former Montana State player has appeared in 25 games overall, with 31 tackles on defense and seven more on special teams.

Unbelievable! Maybe scouts think he will turn his career around and become the next Troy Vincent!

Teams go to camp with about 1000 players who will be cut during preseason (roughly 30/team). Probably less than one-third of those really have a shot at making the roster. The other two-thirds are there to provide the numbers needed to run camp, without burning out everyone. Thomas is in the 2/3 of the camp fodder who really have no reasonable chance of making the roster. But, hope springs eternal, and every now and then one of them makes the team.

I'm not puttin any money down on it, but maybe a little time earning a buck in the real world has changed his attitude a little bit for the better. Could happen.
