Student Loses Fingers, Toes To Frostbite

POSTED: 8:38 am CST February 14, 2008
UPDATED: 8:46 am CST February 14, 2008

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Iowa City police said a University of Iowa student who passed out in an alley while walking home from the bars has lost fingers and toes to frostbite.

The student was found Sunday morning. Police believe he'd been in the alley for about six hours. It was 4 degrees when he was found.

The student's name has not been released.

Police believe the student was coming home and either slipped or lay down on his own. Sgt. Troy Kelsay said his body temperature was beginning to drop, and he could have died.

Kelsay said no criminal charges would be filed.

You may be thinking "That really sucks." Maybe you feel bad for him. Well, what's published in the paper apparently isn't the WHOLE story.

Word of mouth is that the student passed out while "relieving himself" in the alley. When they found him, his rear end was frozen to the ground, and today they had to amputate "something else" besides his fingers and toes....

You sure they removed it? Maybe he was just suffering from temperature induced shrinkage.

Someone should send this to Gully. He passed out in a stairwell.

Drinking is all fun, but i think he has a problem.
