Timing is probably not coincidence. Kind of cool, in a way.

Did someone tell Clifton that Sapp ended his career, because I think he might have missed that part...?

So this means there is a slim chance that Favre and Sapp go into Canton together?
Fitting, I suppose...although I'm not sure Sapp is a first ballot HOFer.

Sapp should be a first ballot HOFer. But if they can skip Cris Carter, anyone can be skipped.
There would be a lot of "box office" if they went in together.
Been watching a lot of the Favre stuff on NFLN. Some of those Favre/Sapp scuffles were hairier than I remember. Brett really was nuts. He was shoving Sapp & screaming "let's go" in a couple of 'em.
Man, I'm gonna miss that wacko hilljack from the Kiln.

He is definitely first ballot.
7 pro bowls, defensive player of the year, a superbowl. Almost 100 sacks...from a DT..amazing.
Maybe the greatest 3 technique DT.
And, got along with the media. Would not be surprised to see him as some sort of analyst..like Siragusa if he wants.

I would tend to agree...I'm just not sure everyone else will. In a year when Favre will be on 99.9% of the ballots, it might make Sapp's inclusion a little less likely compared to a year where there wasn't at least one sure thing available.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing them go in together.

That was a quite retirement, poor timing on his part, maybe that is what he wanted

In a related move, Chad Clifton said he'd be back next year.
