Electronic Arts announced this week that fans of the popular Madden franchise could expect the latest offering, Madden NFL 09, on Aug. 12.

Madden NFL 09, developed by Orlando's EA Tiburon studio, will be released on every major gaming platform, but Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners have the option of purchasing a 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition of the game.

The collector's edition also will include bonus content, along with NFL Head Coach 09, a game that offers a more strategic NFL gaming experience. Players of both games will be able to take custom plays devised in NFL Head Coach 09 and create custom playbooks to use in Madden NFL 09.

The Madden NFL 09 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition will retail for $89.99.

I wonder if Favre will be on the game in any way, shape or form? It would be so cool if he makes the cover. After all....Madden would have his babies if he could.

I'm going to miss slinging it in 3 defenders with his 98 arm power... Or throwing the farthest bomb (60-70 yards) to Jennings/Driver :(
