Packers re-signed restricted free agent RB Vernand Morency to a one-year, $927,000 contract, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

Morency battled a knee injury for almost the entire '07 season. He managed only 3.7 yards per carry on 29 totes, but did haul in 30 passes. Morency's upside is as a third-down back in the Packers' offense and he no longer looks like a fantasy option. He'll compete for that job with Brandon Jackson, DeShawn Wynn, and longshot Noah Herron. Is that what he was tendered - $927,000. Seems high for a restricted free agent tender.

This guy has to be about 20 times more productive this year than last or he will be cut.

I thought they might not bring him back. You know what you've got with him & it ain't much.

I couldn't figure out why he was so banged up all the time. He must get hurt in practice a lot, 'cause he sure doesn't play.

At least he's not Herron.

That is the same amount as lowest RFA level there is. I assume that's exactly what it was.

That's right.

He's not as good as Herron ''Duck feet and all''.

One more season with this fella will do it. He's a paper doll.

Morency is a bum plain and simple. No value what-so-ever.

WTF is a paper doll anyway? You mean a maxi pad?

I wouldn't say that. Morency is capable when healthy...but the guy can't stay healthy.

Herron is a bum.

I'm a little surprised they re-signed him. He doesn't have the burst of Grant; He doesn't break tackles; And he wasn't near as shifty, even when healthy as I would have hoped.

Hopefully there is no guaranteed money here, and he gets cut if anybody else at all emerges behind Grant and Jackson.

As long as Herron isn't on the roster i'll be happy...

Morency is not a bad #2/3 rb... He just needs to stay healthy...

Wynn showed some flashes but that fatass better get in shape so he doesn't cramp up after 1 play :)

Uh...B? I hate to be the one to break this to you, but Rob Davis retired...

too good Ziggy. Think he'll handle the shock?

I think everyone's panning Morency a little much. Remember he was scheduled to be our open day starter only a year ago! I don't think he's that fragile, and is a good receiver. At this point I think he's a better 2nd option than BJack.

Since when is he injury prone? I'm sorry, but he got hurt once as far as I know, and never got a chance to rest and heal.
