I'm planting my gardens and am actually having a tough time deciding what to put in them. I'm doing two very small veggie patches and a flower bed.
What do you guys think? (maybe I should skip the grape tomatoes this year?)

One of the things that we can grow easily this far north are the salad greens...I always plant a good spicy mix and arugula as well as some traditional salad greens.

I love cherry tomatoes! Please don't forsake them.
My in-laws always used to grown them. When we went to visit them once, my 4 year old was very fond of them.
One time my father in-law asked, "Where did my cherry tomatoes go?' We looked over at my 4 year old. She innocently shrugged, "I don't know" despite a couple of tomato seeds stuck to the outside of her mouth!

Opium poppys are nice and something different but of course they are illegal.
When I was a lil kid my grandmother's house and a few others had them growing in the yard like plants. The leaf looked kinda lettuce like but had purple flowers I think. She had gotten them from a relative who had went to Korea. He brought back one of the pods. She must have liked the flowers because I dont recall her smoking opium.
They looked like this:
