A tragic car crash yesterday in central Washington killed Pacific Lutheran University football player Brady Freeman and his girlfriend. Also severely injured in the crash was Brady's twin brother, Boone Freeman, a student athlete at neighboring Puget Sound University.
Brady was a TE for PLU, Division III school. He was a true student athlete as he had a 4.0 as a biology major while starting as a tight end for the football team. His brother, Boone, also has impeccable grades as a physics major and starts for the Puget Sound football team.
This loss is particularly hard for my daughter, a sophomore at PLU, as she was close friends with all three of these young people. As a senior in high school, she also lost a close friend in her church group to a car crash.
As a parent, it is always difficult to see your child go through the emotional pain of losing close friends.
Perhaps for all of us it is a lesson that we have to take each day of life as a gift.
