A health and exercise science major who plans to have a career in physical therapy... a Dean's List student... a two-time member of the ACC Honor Roll... born October 9, 1985 in Vorhees, N.J.... son of Oliver and Myrna Thompson... chose Wake Forest because of "the academic prestige and a rising football program."

A smart DE who is 6'4" 260 some lbs taken on the second day? Remind you of anyone else???

Several scouts compared him to Kampman. He's the black Aaron Kampman.

When Aaron Kampman was drafted, no one thought he would be either! :D

As the only guy Ted Thompson has ever traded up in a draft to get he is almost assured of making the team.

Like most rookies he will take a couple of years to get up to speed.

Hunter won't like it and Montgomery has to be worried.

I hope Ted can trade some players. There are some good one who will be cut.

He was a steal at that stage of the draft, he might be able to beat out Montgomery for a back up spot, he has potential.

Definatley will push Hunter and Montgomery. Hunter needs to show some moves.

Thompson is a little undersize, but he's tall and looks like he could add about 20 pounds. Then, you are talking about a 6'5", 280lb DE that has some athletic ability.

He looks like a nice athlete. NFL.com has combine footage of him.

At least Hunter makes plays on special teams. I'd keep him over Montgomery based on what I've seen of them so far.

Montgomery looked good as a rookie, but hasn't progressed. I think Thompson will replace him. As DonHutson said, ST will likely keep Hunter her for another year.

WOW

i watched talib at the combine do everything, and i have to say that thompson looka a lot better running those coverage/footwork drills

very impressive for a big guy

if he adds 10 pounds i think he could be a beast. and he for sure as the room to add some weight. the guy looks cut

I agree on that. Montgomery is just a player, and doesn't have the ST value that Hunter has. Thompson has the potential to be a lot more than what Montgomery is.

Anyone else feel comfortable that this guy will turn out to be a solid player based on the fact TT was so confident in that he made a move up to get him?

That speaks volumes to me. He must have been very, very confident in that or I doubt he'd have done it.

It certainly indicates that TT must have had him ranked much higher than anyone else still available. TT moved up only 11 spots to get him, so apparently wanted him much more than anyone of the next 11 players on his board.

The Packers need another DE that can makes his presence known and put pressure on the QB. Jenkins was suppose to be that guy last year, and granted he was dinged up, but didn't produce like most thought he would.

Well, this is all cool. I freaked out when TT traded up.

This is the answer to "Who did he trade UP for"?

That statement is true, there is a ton of talent on this team asnd we will have to move guys before the season starts, guys we will hate to lose.
