There are photos of Miley Cyrus taken by famous photographer Annie Leibovitz that many are calling distasteful. Personally, I can't believe they published photos like that of a 15 year old girl, yet alone her parents. My daughter is only turning 1 year old, but there is no way I would let her pose for pics like that at 15.

Your thoughts?

I voted yes. They probably were inappropriate. But there's no babies dying here. Why is the media making such a big deal out of this?

Well, she and her family thought the photos "artsy" at the time they were taken but after seeing the reaction that her fans and others are having to them they have changed their tune.

I saw only two photos and I did think they were "artsy."

It goes back to the nature of art and how each person interprets it. Her bare back is nothing that can't be seen in a one piece bathing suit. Yet, somehow, the fact that she is covering herself with a blanket rather than a bathing suit evokes a different reaction with some people.

The good thing is that she is learning a valuable lesson at 15 years old about the risks celebrities take with their fan base and careers when they push the envelope so to speak.

They should have known that Annie Leibovitz would have tried to get her to remove some clothing. That's her M.O. as a photographer and why she's famous.

Because they can show pictures of a barely clothed 15-year-old girl (good for ratings) and claim it's a legitimate news story about possible child exploitation. A story about 15-year-old homeless kids selling drugs wouldn't get the same viewership.

It wasn't the lack of what she was wearing... or not wearing....but the implication or suggestion. Silk sheets? 15 yrs. old?= Tasteless.

Disney isn't what it once was, but to alot of people it still implies 'goodness, or wholesomeness'. Parents can safely assume that when they take their children to see a Disney movie, or watch the Disney channel, they are not going to have to worry about seeing or screening anything inappropriate.

Walking past the magazine stand with Vanity Fair displayed.....'Isn't that Hanah?......what's she doing?........are questions some parents might not want to have to answer.

You know, some people just like silk sheets. They aren't just found on porno sets and romantic hotels that rent by the hour. And I doubt flannel or cotton sheets translate well to photo.

Unfortunately I think the kids that are her fans have probably seen much more skin at their local school. That and the kids should know the difference between Hannah Montana and lil' Cyrus.

As Brit Brit says:

I'm not a girl
I'm not a girl don't tell me what to believe
Not yet a woman
I'm just tryin to find the woman in me, yeah
All I need is time
Whoa, all I need is time...
A moment that is mine
... thats mine
While I'm in between

The photos probably aren't that big of a deal if they are done artistically for a PRIVATE audience, such as the girl herself, a boyfriend, her family, etc.

However, since this girl is an icon to many underage girls, creating a somewhat sensual photo spread in a PUBLIC magazine seems to be quite inappropriate.

The photos are a recreation of something. I just cant remember what. Pretty lame that they would prop up their 15yo just so Billy Ray can keep the mullet alive.

Gonna be some achy breaky therapy bills in the future for this girl.

Miley has since apologized and I give her credit for that. As a parent, it's up to them to decide whether they feel these pictures are appropriate or not. Perhaps even a good chance for a parent to actually be a parent and talk to their kid about their feelings on the matter.

My thoughts on the pictures? I see her back and her arm. I can go to the mall here and see 15 yo girls exposing a lore more than that. I guess they aren't famous enough to make the news about it though.

I dont know if this is all of them but here are some.

Considering that Billy Ray comes off like some overprotective superdad I am surprised he signed off on this.

Are you kidding me? Whats inappropriate is how Billy Ray and family have marketed their daughter to make a fortune. How are these pictures anymore inappropriate than the way she poses for photos when she walks down the red carpet? Now they are saying how sorry they are that they ever did it? Sorry because they may lose a few dollars.

I guess I don't give a fuck if Cyrus and his ho of a wife want to live the life of fame through their daughter and if they have to, I guess they will through a silk sheet around her and take a picture.

To me it is different than just dressing her up in ultra low cut tops, and short-short skirts and stuff. I can't put my finger on it but it is just a bit inappropriate.

just another little untalented kid that the media will build way the hell up, only so they can destroy her by the time she's 25. it makes for good magazines

i hope her no-talent parents are happy with all the money they've made off her while ruining any sort of chance at a normal life that she might have had

Today was the first time I'd ever heard of Miley Cyprus. At first I thought it was the name of a Greek nationalist punk band. Then I began to wonder, Who in the world would get all worked about about some teenager whose name is Miley Cyprus???? I guess I'm too old, and my kids are too young--she kind of landed in between generations at my house. A near miss. But seriously, what's the big freaking deal? Have we become a nation of puritans? Oh wait...

I dont think their inappropriate, especially compared to the way our age dress. I would say that her myspace pictures of were inappropriate but i dont see how these are.

The rock of selective deafness. Highly recommended, and even necessary, once you have kids.

Bretsky,

You would have heard of her if your girls were older. My 13 year old follows her quite a bit. My daughter played a song by Cyrus for me. Her voice is actually pretty good, IMO.

Do they watch "Hannah Montana?" Cyrus is the star of that show.
