ANYONE PLANNING TO GO?

It's a great night for family entertainment and you sure can't beat the price at $8.00 per ticket.

'Packers Family Night, Presented By Fox 11' Scheduled For Sunday, Aug. 3

TICKETS GO ON SALE JUNE 14

The Green Bay Packers Monday announced that 'Packers Family Night, Presented by FOX 11,' will take place Sunday evening, Aug. 3.

'Family Night,' now in its eighth year, will feature an intra-squad scrimmage between the Packers' offense and defense. Evening activities get underway in the stadium at 5:30 p.m., followed by on-field football drills at 6:30 and the scrimmage at approximately 7:30.

This year's edition lands on a Sunday night for the first time. With the team opening the preseason on a Monday night (Aug. 11), the entire training camp schedule had to be adjusted, beginning with the first practice, Monday, July 28.

"We're very excited to be preparing for 'Packers Family Night,' " said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. "It's another one of the great training camp traditions of the Green Bay Packers. Even with the change, it promises to be another memorable night for our fans, and I'm looking forward to seeing it for the first time. I've already heard a lot of great things about the event, both from our staff and our fans."

"We are proud to be part of ushering in the 2008 season by putting on 'Packers Family Night, presented by Fox 11,' " said Jay Zollar, FOX 11 Vice President and General Manager. "This continues to be a wonderful and affordable family event for the 60,000 people who come to Lambeau Field and great family television for those who watch it on FOX 11, around the state and country!"

For fans not attending the event, it will be televised in Green Bay on WLUK-TV FOX 11, as well as on WITI-TV in Milwaukee, WMSN-TV in Madison, WFXS-TV in Wausau and WLAX-TV in La Crosse. Hosted by Drew Smith and other members of the Fox 11 sports and news staffs, the live broadcast will start at 6:30 p.m.

Included in the evening's activities, per custom, will be the popular "Shirts Off Our Backs," with approximately 20 jerseys -- all of which will have been worn by Packers players in the just-completed scrimmage -- to be given away in a random drawing, other entertainment and a spectacular fireworks show to conclude the night.

The NFL's most popular scrimmage, the event has drawn more than 60,000 fans the past four seasons as the Packers sold every available seat.

Tickets, priced again at $8, will go on sale Saturday, June 14, at 10 a.m., through Ticketmaster and may be purchased either in person, over the phone or via the Internet. A limit of eight tickets per purchase will be in place for an initial sales period to allow more fans to have the chance to make a transaction.

Parking for the event will be $5, with net proceeds to be donated to 'Packers Family Night' partner Wendy's Wonderful Kids foster care adoption program, a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Volunteers for the group also will be in the parking lot and at the gates to share information about the program with fans and accept monetary donations.

Sucks they moved it to Sunday night. Guess we'll be skipping it this year. :( Up for work at 3am comes way to quick.

I would imagine this is the case for many families who won't be able to attend due to work the next day (out of towners, of course).

Red, you are right, the fireworks are awesome. There is a spot up the street that some of us walk to and watch them.

I'll probably go. I'll record it too, just so I can watch it a couple times more with the help of different camera angles.

6,000 tickets remain for event that usually sells out quickly

Maybe’s it’s the fact that it’s being held on a Sunday night. Or maybe it’s fallout from Brett Favre’s retirement.

But the Green Bay Packers’ annual Family Night on Aug. 3, which has sold out quickly the past four years, still has more than 6,000 tickets remaining. Tickets went on sale June 14.

The Sunday night date was necessary because the Packers’ first preseason game is Aug. 11, meaning the earliest the team could begin training camp was July 28, said Aaron Popkey, the Packers corporate communications specialist. Holding Family Night Presented by Fox 11 on a Saturday as the team has in the past did not mesh with the training schedule, he said.

Special events connected with Family Night will be announced later this week, Popkey said. A Copps-Pick ’n Save picnic is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the Lambeau Field gates opening at 5:30 p.m. The Packers will begin on-field drills at 6:30, with a scrimmage set for 7:30. The night will end with fireworks.

“We’re pleased with the sales so far, and we’re hopeful for a sellout,” Popkey said.

“Fans have commented on the Sunday night factor. We haven’t heard anything specific about Favre, but I don’t know if you can discount that. We have heard a little about people being interested in seeing (starting quarterback) Aaron Rodgers.”

Damn, people, why aren't you going? If I was up there I"d buy those tickets in a second.

I think the tighter economy and move to Sunday night are far bigger reasons than Favre's retirement.

If I lived in the area I would definitely take my family.

When do regular season tickets go on sale? Not that us regular folks will be able to buy any at decent prices.

While I agree that having Family Night on a Sunday might be a problem for some, I still think a lot of the reasoning has to do with Favre not being there. If he was, it would be a sell-out IMO.

Tix for this years reg season games can be had for $50 above face. Last year you couldn't touch them for under $200.

Mini-camp attendance was down for this year. Area hotels say they aren't booked for training camp this year, which NEVER happens.

Fan Fest was a huge draw in year one with Favre. Since then, demand for tickets has gone way down

Blame the economy, blame gas prices, etc, but Favre sells...plain and simple.

Finally, the time for us die-hard Packer fans to take full advantage of our team has come. No longer will we suffer at the hands of fair-weather Packer fans who root for the team because of Brett. The fences of Training Camp will be no longer be clogged with people trying to get a look at the legend himself.

I hope.

Well said, Ballhawk. Nothing bothered me more than seeing a bunch of idiots sitting around drooling over Brett freaking Favre. My god, I wouldn't show up to an event if the only draw was Favre yet these people waste their time and money for nothing more than idol worship. It's pathetic. He's just a guy, a guy who played good football, nothing more.

I know a few people selling tickets and they aren't getting the big $$ like they have in the past. But also, you can look on eventusa.com Take a look at Houston and Carolina home games. End zone seats for $90. So technically, that's $30 above face.

Does it really matter what reasoning one has for being a Packer fan? I for one, am honored that we had a legend like Favre playing for us for so many years. Also, I didn't realize that you have been so burdened by the railbirds when you came here for training camp.

The comment was made in jest, but since you are asking, I do believe it matters for what reason one is a Packer fan. It's no different than the Patriots winning 3 SB's and then them having a bunch of fans. In no way should those bandwagon fans who like the Pats "because their uncle is from Vermont." There are levels of devotion to a team and certain fans will only go to a certain degree. Favre brought a lot of new fans to the Pack and that's great, but it is nice to see a downturn in attendance.

I think winning brought some new fans to the Pack. Let's be honest though. The Packers have had great support throughout the years, but there aren't a lot of people that are going to spend their hard earned cash traveling across the state (and sometimes the country) to watch training camp for a team that goes 4-12 every year. Plus, there's a lot more to see in Green Bay now with the new Hall of Fame, the renovated Lambeau and its fancy shops/Pro Shop, the Don Hutson Center (not to mention more convenience with the bleacher seats around "The Don"), etc. The NFL has also gotten even more popular since the Packers were sucking before Favre.
