At least I know what I'll be doing in two years...

being disgusted by the next ploy to stop all energy advancement when this one falls thru??

No, energy advancement will still go through in other countries while we're still dependent on fossil fuels and offshore wind farms. I'll likely be doing something with a finished EIS.

Gov't. reverses itself on moratorium. Thankfully common sense has at least made a cameo appearance somewhere.

That moratorium is like those who oppose wind turbines because they're worried about birds that will fly into the blades!

Thank god, public pressure actually works sometimes.

I thought libs were all for survival of the fittest....if birds are dumb enough to fly into a wind turbine isn't that darwinism at its finest??

Who said it was libs worried about birds? DD didn't. Libs are all for alternative energy, remember? It's nutcases who don't want wind power because birds might fly in. It's the same ones who oppose air travel for the same reason.

Is it possible for you to not make stupid pokes at liberals. Nah, i don't think so.

Liberals tend to believe (there is no uniformity of thought) in darwinism. That however, doesn't translate into survival of the fittest as something they would be in favor of...and this isn't even the case in your example.

There is a huge difference nature selecting something for extinction and man doing something.

I don't know how accurate the thread is that solar power is being halted.

The local newspaper, The Sherwood Gazette, just announced that Intel will invest $50 million in a start-up solar cell manufacturing company in Hillsboro, Oregon. Hillsboro is a suburb west of Portland, OR.

The new firm will be called SpectraWatt and will make photovoltaic cells used in solar devices that gather energy from the sun and produce electricity. The company will begin production in mid-2009 and will soon grow its employment to 135 employees.

SpectraWatt joins Germany's SolarWorld in selcting Washington County, Oregon as home. In 2007, Solar World announced that it would invest $400 million in an abandoned Hillsboro micro-electrics chip plant and would expand its initial employment of 350 people to as many as 2,000 employees.

Your right, the eco freaks that take it to this extreme are probably not really libs, just crazy.

Never mind. I can fix their problem and I'll be a millionaire doing it. By the way, I missed the word "liberal" in that article. Could you please point it out to me? Thanks.

I said you were right. I would point out that pretty much 98% of america considers environmental groups liberal, but I agree with you that when they take it to this extreme they are outside of the political realm.

edit: I feel like I've had this arguement before, but it was rascism and conservatives..............anyway I'm glad at least you see it my way.

I'm just not a fan of having everything framed in a lib/conserv framework. I think it creates an us vs. them attitude and is divisive in situations where no division is necessary.

The article you posted was from 2004. I wonder if they got this problem solved yet. I will need to check into it.
