I just got my 'renewal' letter/bill. 6 payments of $41.50. "That's over $50 off the retail price, a special discount for our most loyal customers, you will see your first charge on your July bill"

Seems expensive.......what is everyone else paying?

I got the same thing. I could swear that shit use to be 4 payments of $50.

Guess that's (obviosly) the price we pay for not living closer to 'mecca'.
Damn it.

Well I was considering getting DTV for this season, but damn, 3bills? I might have to pimp Mad out again to pay for it.

If you would normally go out to a bar to watch the Packer game, it pays for itself halfway through the season.

I remember gettng the package years ago for about 160 plus a couple of months of all the premium channels. those were the days.

I agree with Go..pays for itself, plus you can actually do some stuff around the house (laundry, etc.).

Those 10 am games are killer on sunday mornings.

Something tells me the outrageous rookie contracts given out lately and the increasing salary cap have something to do with this.

I'd guess it's market based pricing based on price elasticity. In other words, they'll charge as much as they can reasonably expect people to pay.

no. The price hasn't changed. HD became available and they charge you $100 extra for it. You can still get low definition for the same price.

I can't. I don't have that option in my ad. They just figure that since analog tv is going away, they can just charge you for the HD whether you have it or not.

I stand corrected:
5 payments of $53.80 for Sunday ticket
4 payments of $24.75 for Superfan(you have to buy this for HD)
5 x $53.80 = $269
4 x $24.75 = $99
-------------------------
= $368

Last season it cost me:

Base 5 payments of $53.80 = $269
HD 3 payments of $33.00 = $99
--------------------------------------
Total $368

They increased my MLB package on both counts this season over last season. But, 06' there were two HD channels that rotated various games evbery night. This season basically every game is in HD every night, most times you can choose home or away anouncers for the same game as both teams broadcast the game.

With all of the increases Xcel Energy and my local phone line sneak in on me every stinking month due to some bullshit reason, the increases DTV has tossed my way are hardly worth complaining about seeing as how they actually have delivered more service(s) to me in that time. I'd spend the entire seasons fee for that NFL pak if I went to one game. And 130+ Mets games in HD for about 75 cents a game is a steal for me.

Ironically I got a letter from Directv about the Sunday Ticket in my mailbox today.

Renewel prices
6 payments of $41.50 for Sunday Ticket
6 payments of $16.50 for Superfan(you have to buy this for HD)

6 x $41.50 = $249
6 x $16.50 = $99
-----------------------
= $348

its $20 cheaper if you renew

Packers have 3 monday night games on ESPN this year.
That leaves 13 games you may or may not get on your local FOX or CBS station.

13/$348 = $26.77 per Packer game in HD

Not to rub salt, GPG, but actually they have 4. Three ESPN's and an NBC. So, it would be 12/$348 = $29 a game.

That's highway robbery. I obviously don't have that, but I am paying .5 sales tax to pay for Lambeau if that makes u feel better! 8-)

It does seems a little ridiculous. 4 games is 25% of the Packers season you don't need Sunday Ticket to see. Plus Sundays where you might be traveling or working. Before you know it, you are paying $40 for a Packer game like its a boxing match or UFC fight!

Several have stated that Direct TV provides a nice package for new subscribers who also sign up for the NFL Package so I've held out.

Are they providing any nice deals yet ??

B, I just emailed you the most recent special they are offering. This one goes to July 17th. Not sure if they will offer something better closer to the season. If you go to that site and enter your email address they will send emails to you on their specials.

depends on when you moved. usually when they hook you up for free after you move they lock you in for a year. it also depends if you call them up and tell them you're leaving and they give you a crazy credit on your bill.(i got 90 bucks when I tried) then they want you to stay for 90 days.

I'm hitting up the bar this year. just find the bar with drink specials. I've got a place that has $1 drafts and $4 taco bar. I can have a great time for 40 bucks!

I just signed up for Direct TV with NFL sunday ticket yesterday and will be hooked up by this weekend if the installer can get a good signal from my house. I had to pay $19.95 for a site survey to check signal strength and then its the $75 a month for 4 months...after the NFL ticket expires it's around $104 for the premium package (loads of shit I'll never watch). They throw in the HD DVR.
I just hate the GCI cable package I have now and am going to transfer my home phone # over to ATT and then get a wireless internet deal they have been offering here to cover my internet needs.

It started when I made the annual pilgrimage down to the GCI store to "upgrade" my service so I could have HD ESPN for the upcoming season and was told my monthly bill would be around $145. That cost coupled with the pathetic "high speed internet" I pay for pushed me over the edge.

No NFL Sunday ticket for me.

I have some large birch trees on the lot and of course they are right in line to where the dish has to aim. I'll keep the trees.

The SAT we aim at is very low on the horizon so the options are limited. I have a small house and lots of trees.
