To paraphrase:

We wanted Favre back, but he retired. Now that Favre wants to come back, we don't want him.

"If that were to occur, he would become an active member of the Green Bay Packers. As always, the Packers will do what's right and in the best interest of the team. "

I don't think an unconditional release is in the best interest of the team, especially if they go out of the way to say he will be reinstated as an active member of the team.

If Favre plays somewhere else, and the Packers go 8-8 or 9-7, I think there is no way TT is employed next year. At least not in Green Bay. TT is putting all his eggs in the Rodgers basket. Too bad it seems a bit fragile!

He inherited a once in a lifetime quarterback. We'll see how far his ego and A-Rod take him. My guess is 6-10, and if that 7 game swing occurs TT will be fired and take an "one of the best "coaches "in the NFL right now" with him in M3.

One game equates to showing something? Are you implying that A-Rod will consistently perform as such against the great defenses of the NFL for the next several years?

Did you ever consider the fact that their gameplan was designed to stop Favre and to blitz from the edge without considering mobility. While we criticized M3 for not making adjustments in his blocking, the same could be said for Dallas' continued edge blitzes and lack of containment.

Give me a break. Dallas would have destroyed us had they had a week to gameplan for A-Rod.

Good stuff. In retrospect that was a pointless game. Sure - it made the Pack actually try the last few games when they may have rested - but HFA wasn't affected and then we couldn't overcome this....

It's really fun seeing this pic again. I just about put my fist into the computer as I was digitizing this a few weeks ago. It's hard to belive such a great season ended on such a horrendous throw. Like 2003. Thank God we don't have to go through this again. With Rodgers running the show, it's likely we'll have at least a year or two before we have to endure a playoff game again.

Honestly, some of you are downright PATHETIC!

Before this whole Favre fiasco came up, the general consensus was for this season to range between excellent and super. Now, well, all this sick loser crap being spewed is, well, ........ PATHETIC.

Nothing has changed! The Packers are still a thoroughly excellent and well-rounded team that will do great with Rodgers at QB--IMO, greater than they would have with Favre.

And as for Favre, I'm betting that whoever he ends up with regrets whatever they have to give up to get him. Hopefully, we can get a fairly decent draft pick for him.

He is IMO, the greatest player ever to play the game, bar none. Packer fans owe him a lot. However, I, for one, will NOT be rooting for him on another team--even if it ain't one of those from our own division. Brett has stated that he intends to give about 80% of the effort for preparation that he gave last year. Thus, I expect about 80% of his level of performance--probably a lot less, as he almost certainly will end up on a much less talented team.

I guess I have some crow to eat for being so sure there was nothing to all this itch and comeback crap. Consider it eaten.

Here's an interesting quote I saw on the Yahoo messge board...

"All I can say is that I'm glad that John Elway didn't jerk my Broncos around like this. Really, he needs to make a decision one way or another, and stick with it. Otherwise people will remember him for flip-flopping like a fish out of water instead of being one of the best QBs to play the game"

I kind of agree.

The Packers official press release said exactly what it should have said. If the Packers were do something that was in the best interest of Brett Favre and not in the best interest of the Green Bay Packers, I would hold the organization at fault for that.

The Green Bay Packers are bigger than Brett Favre, always have been and always will be.

Although I have been a big TT supporter with all decisions up till now, this may blow up bigger than ANY former player/GM altercation I can remember in all of sports history for TT. I mean that response was some cold ass shit. I thought TT was gay this whole time...who knew he had such cold ass pimp blood?? You know, when Favre retired, he was telling the Packers that it was time for them to move on. That's what retirement means - you're telling your employers that they have to get on without you. So the Packers did that, and apparently in late March when Favre apparently changed his mind and wanted to meet to discuss a comeback, the Packers were more than willing to do that - to stop moving on without Favre. Then he apparently changed his mind again. Again, the message - a second time - is that the Pack needed to move on without Favre.

So they are. And now people are hating them for that?
