How can you idiots still think TT is not a great... or even good GM?
All you do is find random draft picks that have not panned out yet and point at that.
LOOK! WE HAVE AN INJURED PLAYER! TT IS AN IDIOT! LETS SIGN HEATH SHULER!
fuckin a man.

fuckin a man.You just need to understand that some on this fourm have hated TT from day one and will spew or spin any piece of garbage to fit their agenda. These same people most liekly love to sniff Favre's jock and you can see the end result.

Lawrence: We still goin' fishin' this weekend?
Peter Gibbons: Nah, Lumbergh's gonna have me come in on Saturday, I just know it.
Lawrence: Well, you can get out of that easily.
Peter Gibbons: Yeah? How?
Lawrence: Well, when a boss wants you to work on Saturday he generally asks you at the end of the day, right?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah.
Lawrence: So, all you gotta do is avoid him... on the last few hours on Friday, duck out early, turn off your answering machine... you should be home free, man.
Peter Gibbons: That's a really good idea.
Lawrence: Fuckin' A, man!
TT is not the greatest or worst GM ever - far better than Millen and makes Wolf's drafts look like shit so far. He is so scared of FAs and sits on a ton of cash that makes me scratch my noggin.

If Favre plays somewhere else, and the Packers go 8-8 or 9-7, I think there is no way TT is employed next year. At least not in Green Bay. TT is putting all his eggs in the Rodgers basket. Too bad it seems a bit fragile!
too bad TT is one of the best GMs in the NFL right now

I'm not in the TT hater category, I just don't understand this sudden man crush on A-Rod and unwillingness to let the guy who led the team for 17 years have a change of heart. This sounds like a battle of egos to me, which wouldn't be smart on either side.

Jees - how can anyone argue with TT's success thus far? He has outperformed Wolf in my opinion and if this continues, he'll go down as one of the all time best.

Huh?
Wolf brought both Favre and White to Green Bay, not to mention a Lombardi Trophy.
I think Thompson has a long way to go to reach the plateau where Wolf stands. It will be even longer if he sticks to his guns and hitches his wagon to Aaron Rodgers.

Scott, to get a complete picture of Thompson's qualities, we need a graphic reminder of how tired our previous GM was getting in his dual roles.
If Favre plays somewhere else, and the Packers go 8-8 or 9-7, I think there is no way TT is employed next year. At least not in Green Bay. TT is putting all his eggs in the Rodgers basket. Too bad it seems a bit fragile!

What I can't stand from reading all of this is that Thompson was the deciding factor that Brett was going to come back and play.
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8335678/Sources:-Packers-won't-release-Favre
In late March during the NFL Owners Meeting, Favre informed the team he wanted to play again, multiple sources have told FOXSports.com. Not only did he insist he was returning, both head coach Mike McCarthy and GM Ted Thompson agreed that he still had something left and they would welcome him back. Despite the fact that those close to Favre have stated Thompson did not want Favre back, Thompson was the deciding factor in agreeing it was not too late to have him un-retire at that time and start for the Packers in 2008.
It seems like NO ONE has read that article or they would know that TT DID NOTHING TO KEEP FAVRE FROM PLAYING.

I wholeheartedly agree with the original post in this thread.
This season, however, will be huge beyond words in determining Thompson's future and legacy with the Packers--short term and long. I'm completely confident that the season will be a success at least on the magnitude of last year. Of course, I was confident Favre wouldn't retire too, and I was also confident he wouldn't actually take action to come back.
If things do go sour, and especially if Favre is decent with some other team, things will, undeniably, get kinda uncomfortable for Thompson.
I don't expect it to go down that way, though.

LMAO! Seriously, Brett and TT outta do the old school MTV Celebrity Deathmatch. Ego vs. Ego. Brett's Mom, brother, and yes-men throwing cheapshots vs. TT's Level 16 Draft Pick spawning spells and wads of cap space cash. Now that, is must see TV! HAHAHAHA!!

TT is barely above .500 and hasn't won anything yet. Plus, he inherited the best QB ever. We'll see how he does with his own quarterback.. I suspect the results won't be as pretty.

One of the posters mentioned "beginning to hate the Packers".
The great Union of Packerdom now taking sides as to preserving that Union or seceding with Favre.
