JETS WELCOME CARROLL

After spending the first part of the offseason signing guys who ended up being big on money, the New York Jets are closing out the offseason by inking a guy who is arguably light on character. And talent.

The Jets have announced the acquisition of defensive back Ahmad Carroll, a one-time first-round pick of the Packers.

He was the 25th overall selection in 2004, but was cut by Green Bay in 2006 after repeatedly being burned like bacon in a brick oven during a game against the Eagles.

Carroll landed in Jacksonville. The Jaguars released him in May 2007 after an arrest on gun and drug (Ecstasy) charges.

Out of football in 2007, Carroll played for the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League in 2008, starting in 15 of 16 games.

To make room on the roster, the Jets dumped rookie free agent Nate Lyles.

The guy sucks big-time,he can’t go four plays in a row without a defensive holding call. He was projected to be a fourth or fifth round draft pick when he came out of college and Mike Sherman picked him in the first round. The only thing that saved Carrol from taking a ton of heat was the fact that Sherman traded up in the third round for a punter that never made the team that year. Sherman was possibly the worse GM in the game if it weren’t for matt millen in Detriot and whoever is in place at MN.

ACDC84 says:
LMAO. Enjoy him, Jets fans. I suffered through 2+ years of this guy in GB and he would make Roy Williams look like Champ Bailey in coverage.

Yea Sherman was as crappy as they come. Third round punter will never lose its humor.

Mactator says:
Yup, that was another Sherman bust amongst several others. I’m surprised we kept him that long.

Good luck Jets fans. Just don’t throw at the WR who is covered by him!!!

Gun charges & ecstacy.Any Jests fans who even can say bleep about Kazur are a joke. One again the red headed stepchild in the NY market makes another great aquisition What a sorry organization from top to bottom.Heres to 40 years of futility. Not to worry, you can draft your QB of the future with the first pick of the 2009.Time to start planning for Ratgini’s replacement

Shopping for Arena league scraps, what a great front office

nerdmann says:
Dude wore boxing gloves in practice. They were desperate to get him to stop grabbing the WRs. Dude’s got skills, they just don’t translate into football. At all. Whatsoever.

how much you wanna bet someone gets fired over this?

Wow. The only thing they didn't accuse him of being light in was the pants.

Carroll's last game in the arena league was a playoff game they lost 69-67. Carroll gave up 8 touchdowns. Remember, the Jags are only signing camp bodies. Like teams that sign an extra kicker for a 'camp leg,' the Jags are probably signing Carroll to help their WRs get used to being held - helpful experience for playing teams with bump and run cover guys.

True, true. Still, I'd have signed the guy opposite Carroll on that arena team - he apparently only gave up two touchdowns.

Thanks for the pick-up. No, it's not glaucoma, just the cataracts getting a bit cloudy. Plus the Rivastigmine (Exelon) I'm taking for Alzheimer's has some nasty side effects.

Cleft, if you claimed Glaucoma some of the younger Packerrats might be able to help you out with some smokable medical relief.

Dude, that's a great idea! You could use him to help teach WR's how best to react to being held to make sure the referee sees it. Get them accustomed to the feel of the CB actually having a handful of jersey, as opposed to just laying a hand on them, so that when they fall, the jersey stretches out...

Sometimes the ladies just wanna be held ... ol' Grabby Smurf could have a lucrative career as a gigolo if he were smart enough to put it together.

No, it's a terrible idea. Receivers never had to work to be sure the ref saw it - Carroll grabbed people pretty openly.
