REPORT: FAVRE CHARTERS PLANE TO HEAD NORTH
Posted by Michael David Smith on July 31, 2008, 1:42 p.m.
ESPN is reporting that Brett Favre has chartered a plane to Green Bay, leading to the possibility that Favre could head north this afternoon or evening and show up at Packers training camp tomorrow.
The ESPN report appeared on the crawl at the bottom of the screen and was not attributed to a reporter. So far, FlightAware.com, which tracks air travel, lists no scheduled departures at Hattiesburg Muni Airport and none of the scheduled arrivals at Austin Straubel International Airport in Green Bay are from Mississippi.
Favre would still need to be reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell before he can report to training camp for the Packers, but Goodell has had Favre’s reinstatement letter for long enough that the reinstatement could come today.
Once Favre has been reinstated, the Packers’ only options for keeping him away from training camp are cutting or trading him.
