kinda exciting to see football season kick off... does anyone know if it will be online anywhere to watch?

How do most see Arod's reception going tonight? I hope it goes well so we're not embarrassed any further..

If you live in Wisconsin it will be on the Fox family of networks. If you do not live in Wisconsin, you can catch the re-airing of it on NFL Network tomorrow night.

I just ran to Target. Totally forgot about Family Night tonight....traffic everywhere. Absolutely beautiful day today, lots of people already out tailgating.

For those not going...This is from the Packers website:

Television:

* For fans not attending the event, it will be televised in Green Bay on WLUK-TV FOX 11, as well as on WITI-TV in Milwaukee, WMSN-TV in Madison, WFXS-TV in Wausau and WLAX-TV in La Crosse. Hosted by Drew Smith and other members of the Fox 11 sports and news staffs, the live broadcast will start at 6:30 p.m.
* Nationally, Family Night will be aired on NFL Network. (see my note below)

The NFL Network is not broadcasting it tonight though, it airs for the first time Monday night @ 8pm.

It's raining as hard as it has all night. There are some team officials milling around on the field, but still no fans or players. Also, per FlightAware.com, the official landing time of Favre's flight was 7:04 p.m.

7:13 p.m.
Favre followed his agent, Bus Cook, and wife, Deanna, off the plane. He smiled and waved to fans as he got into a red Cadillac Escalade and left. He did not speak with reporters. Thank you to Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal for having his Internet TV hooked up for us to witness this, uh, historic moment in the press box.

7:09 p.m.
A buzz just went through the press box as Favre's plane reportedly landed at Austin Straubel International. A contingent of fans is cheering his arrival.

6:56 p.m.
The tentative start time now is 7:30 p.m. There would be a 15-minute warmup before the scrimmage begins, and there would be no stops for commerical breaks. Regardless, we're looking at a minimum 1-hour delay.

6:45 p.m.
No fans. No players. We're waiting ... we're waiting ...

6:39 p.m.
Biggest lightning strike yet. Consider us delayed again.

6:35 p.m.
This was the schedule for tonight's scrimmage prior to the delay:

Kickoff coverage, 2x (thud)
Drive #1, 15 plays (live)
Kickoff return, 2x (thud)
Drive #2, 15 plays (live)
Punt coverage, 2x (thud)
2-minute drill (live)
2-minute drill (live)
Punt return, 2x (thud)
Drive #3, 20 plays (live)
Field goal/field goal return (thud)
Victory play

The first and third drives presumably would belong to Aaron Rodgers and the No. 1 offense, giving them 35 plays plus their 2-minute drill. But all of this is subject to change because of the weather.

6:32 p.m.
There is a plane flying over the stadium with a "SaveBrett.Net" sign. Not sure whether it could withstand a direct lightning strike. Stay tuned.

6:30 p.m.
The lightning is growing less frequent, but ushers continue to hold fans in the concourse. According to a Packers spokesman, players will come onto the field at 6:45 for warm-ups and then go right into the scrimmage at 7 -- which actually accelerates the timeframe, but does cut short what was scheduled.

6:11 p.m.
The bowl remains empty. According to Press-Gazette meteorologist Rob Demovsky, "this should be out of here pretty quick." To answer the comment about whether this is on TV, yes, it is -- on Fox 11 in Green Bay, and I believe it's simulcast around the state.

6:03 p.m.
Brett Favre's plane from Hattiesburg, Miss., is heading into this same storm. According to FlightAware.com, it's set to touch down at 6:59 p.m.

5:58 p.m.
And after a bolt of lightning almost directly over the stadium, the stands are being cleared. We could be in for a delay.

5:47 p.m.
It's begun to drizzle, and there's audible thunder. Lightning is cracking beyond the north end of the stadium. Long snapper J.J. Jansen, kicker Mason Crosby and punter Jon Ryan are the first players on the field.

5:38 p.m.
Under ominous skies, fans are beginning to trickle into Lambeau Field for the Family Night scrimmage. There was lightning nearby as I drove in, and there are dark clouds moving in from the west. As if this night needs any more drama. Outside, it's a festival atmosphere. Plenty of Brett Favre jerseys there and within view of the press box.

It's looking less and less likely this scrimmage is actually going to occur. The field is taking on a lot of water, raising the injury risk. Not sure what the contingency plan would be, but a delay to Monday would seem the most likely option.

Also, here's what GM Ted Thompson said when asked by Fox 11 whether it was unexpected that the NFL acted today on Brett Favre's reinstatement request: "Brett had sent his request for reinstatement, and then, because there were some discussions going on, I think everybody felt better to put it on hold for a little bit. But we knew it was an eventuality."

Players are on the field for warm-ups. The following players are not dressed to practice: CBs Charles Woodson, Al Harris and Condrew Allen; DTs Ryan Pickett and Justin Harrell; DE Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila; C Scott Wells; and WR Jake Allen. Woodson and Harris are the only healthy scratches.

One more quote from Thompson during his interview with Fox 11, when asked if there will be an open competition for the starting job: "I think we get back to the same thing that we’ve said over and over and over again since Brett’s retirement and then subsequent things that happened during the spring. We were asked to move forward at the quarterback position. We’ve tried to do that. Things are a little different than they were back in February and March, early March. But we’ll see. We quite haven’t got there in terms of what role that will be. I think after we meet with Brett tomorrow and with the quarterbacks in general, and we’re meeting with the team, and then at that point we’ll determine which way we’ll go."

This reporter must have only wanted to turn in a story that wouldnt be rejected, because I dont remember it that way. As i recall the only reason they went down the field to score was because they wanted to practice red zone play. If he was what lead them down the field its because he was out in front as they walked beside the ref with the down, not because offense moved the ball.
