What a great day to watch a Packer practice. My first day watching the HAWK soar in GB!!!! Loved it! Here is my report.

STUDS AND DUDS

STUDS:

1. ZAC ALCORN - Alcorn really had a special day. He was given a lot of opportunities to make catches and he made them. He did have one drop, a pass off his finger tips, but other then that he was money. Made a real nice sliding catch in the endzone and routinely came back for the ball when the QB was forced to scramble. I'm not sure that he has NFL size, but he certainly has NFL heart.

2. DONALD LEE - Ted Thompson deserves a lot of credit for signing Lee last year. Lee is fast, strong and has hands like a WR. He made catch, after catch, after catch today. He broke wide open twice today and made the D pay. Lee did have two 5 yard bullets clank of his hands but he also made several very nice catches in traffic. Don't be surprised if Lee is your #2 TE this season.

3. AJ HAWK - Yeah, I'm a homer, I KNOW IT! But before you rip on me, just go watch him play. He is faster then I thought and is ALWAYS around the ball. They already have him blitzing and he gets to the QB, FAST! Hawk hustles from station to station and is all football. His legs look very powerful and he has the thickest ankles I have every seen (on a non-fat person). Hawk was all football, no trash talking or goofing around. He is a Packer all the way!

DUDS:

1. AHMAD CARROLL - Carroll was the Anti-Hawk out there today. He talked so much shit and only backed it up half the time. He did have one pick and two passes defended, which were all nice plays, but he couldn't let his play talk for him. It was pathetic! After breaking up a pass intened for C. Rodgers, Carroll stood over Rodgers talking trash. Then, as Rodgers was trying to pick himself up off the ground, Carroll pushed him back to the ground. Carroll then talked more trash! This fiasco occured right after Boe burned Carroll for a 30 yard TD pass. Since the coaching staff wasn't checking Carroll, some fan had to. Right after Carroll pushed Rodgers down, he yelled "Carroll you just got burned!" Carroll was a straight up thug today.

2. COACHING STAFF - Carroll acted like a 2 year old all practice long and NOT ONE COACH SAID ANYTHING TO HIM. MM was working with the O and may not have noticed all of his antics. However, Bob Sanders and Kurt Schottenheimer had front row seats and never, NOT ONCE, lit into Carroll. Carroll was acting like a spoiled brat and his daddies (coaches) never did anything to improve his behavior. Maybe he was spoken to after practice, but I doubt it. I hate it that MM let Carroll disgrace the Packers like that.

3. MIKE HAWKINS - Hawkins got beaten like a tied up goat all day long. He was pathetic. He got burned for TD's on back to back plays. The worst part? They were the same play. He didn't have an INT or a pass defended all day long. Then, he got a little cut on his knee so he stopped practicing. Come on! Hawkins better pick it up!

ONE LINERS (OR MORE)

Donald Driver was MIA

David Martin was MIA

Rod Gardner was MIA

Cory Rodgers dropped passes and kick offs.

Greg Jennings doesn't show the burst I would expect him to when returning kicks in practice.

Gado was a first team kick returner, paired with Jennings.

Davenport looked better then I have seen him. No more limping.

The O and D line did sprints during practice.

Troy Humpfrey made some nice catches today, including a TD.

Fergie made an unbelievable catch at the back of the endzone.

Roman was working with the 1's today.

Roman was coaching up the young guys.

Starting LB's were: Taylor, Barnett, Hawk.

Jason Horton is hurt, again!

Ruvell Martin is getting more and more reps with Brett. He looked very good again today. Dangerous weapon in the red zone (fade route).

Greg Jennings caught the bell well again.

Leach bumbled another pass from Brett. He just can't catch.

As always, Henderson caught the ball very nicely out of the back field.

A-Rod was picked off by Jason Hunter on a screen play. A SCREEN!

Herron was the No. 1 back again today.

Jennings started with Fergie today.

Different day, same long sleeve shirts on the coaches.

Bubba Franks lined up real wide, like a WR, on several plays.

Hawk is working on the No. 1 special teams unit.

Cundiff looked solid kicking FG before practice.

Hawk and some rooks stayed after practice to work on LB drills.

When Horton got hurt, he layed down right in front of me a said "Shit, fuck, shit, oh fuck, oh shit, god damn it!" A short time later, he walked away.

Tom Arth looked like crap today.

FAVORITE MOMENT:

You know what, I don't think I had a favorite moment. I was just so sickened by the behavior of Carroll that I walked away mad. Mad that we drafted such a punk. Mad that he refuses to grow up. Mad that he is still on MY team. Mad that MM and Co. did nothing to check him. And most of all, mad that Cory Rodgers didn't stand up and beat the PISS OUT OF HIM! AHHHHHHH! What a punk!

I TOOK A TON OF PICS TODAY.

All the pics can be seen exclusively at PackerRats.com. Give it some time though, the website administrator needs some time to put them up.

Yeah, Carroll can be a real jackass sometimes.

And thanks for the report.

Thanks for the report. So was it you who stood up and reminded Caroll of his last play? Wonder if he needs to be reminded that unsportsmanlike conduct is a 15-yard penalty...

Great to hear that Hawk is doing exactly as expected though.

I love these reports!!

Too bad Carroll got under your skin. Maybe bring a big cardboard sign that says "Carroll - you're in the NFL grow up!" or something.

Conerbacks are meant to trash talk. THat's just there nature. If you have ever played CB and if you have ever shut down Darren Charles, you will know what i mean.

Cory is on thin ice as it is.....probably smart of him not to start something. I agree the staff should have probably put a stop to it from how you descibed it.

Talking trash is one thing, but pushing your own teammate down is totally different. You weren't there (were you?), so you can't say whether or not his behavior was acceptable. I was there, and go all the time, his behavior was abnormal for an NFL player and was outrageous!

I've yet to hear one good thing about Cory Rodgers since we drafted him. It is too early to say he is a bust, but man, we drafted him as a return specialist and he consitently drops punts and kickoffs? Not a good sign...

gbpackfan;

Love the one liners, short, sweet, and to the point.
Not all the bullshit that the newspaper's coverage has.

I'll bet that the players check out who made "studs" list each day. :D

Thanks for the great reporting.

Anti-Polar Bear,

Thank you.

Get this, I was told on a differnt site that I wrote "Fuck" to many times in my report. Hey, that is what Jason Horton said! I write what I heard / observed. I don't sugar coat anything.

Maybe I should make this report a PackerRats.com exlcusive?

Don't we expect all of today's "playas" to talk shit and trash?

Isn't that the style all these kids see on sports center and all the Fox reports, and oh yeah, all the freakin video games

Carroll is a product of the environment, be the gangsta, talk all the shit you want, even if you can't back it up, because even if you get toasted, you'll sound "HIP" 'casue you can open your mouth, spew profanities/threats/ebonics/beat-your-chest-because-I-made-ONE-play-I-should've-because-I've-been-doing-this-since-I-was-a-kid and all the new / young gangstas will think it's allright / cool / acceptable! I'll be on espn tonight..

Where have all the Barry Sander's and Marshll Faulks gone??! Do somehing good... act like you've done it before... 'course that style doesn't get played on espn & mtv

First of all.

gbpackfan that was outstanding reporting and thanks a bunch "

## AJ HAWK - Yeah, I'm a homer, I KNOW IT! He is a Packer all the way!" gbpackfan ++

** I am so pleased for you that you got to see, the real AJ Hawk in his real debute as a Packer. When I saw a video of Hawk I was impressed. He is the REAL DEAL.

## " DONALD LEE - Ted Thompson deserves a lot of credit for signing Lee last year. Lee is fast, strong and has hands like a WR. He made catch, after catch, after catch today. He broke wide open twice today and made the D pay. Lee did have two 5 yard bullets clank of his hands but he also made several very nice catches in traffic. Two words. . . no three. REALLY GOOD NEWS !

## "1. Right after Carroll pushed Rodgers down, he yelled "Carroll you just got burned!" Carroll was a straight up thug today. " ++

Maybe this is the tough minded scrapy football, some want to see from OUR side, but coming from Ahmad . . .

Four words. SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE.

If I was a coach and had seen him push Rodgers to the ground after the play. I would have been all over him, as his proneness to stupid penalty's is one of the biggest criticisms of him. If he didn't listen up, or show a decent attitiude to my critcisms, I would be bucking hot and sent Carroll to the locker room immediately, and explained the reason later. Last season, Mike Sherman 'had to play it straight up' with Ahmad Carroll, ( a meeting in his office ) and it seemed to me, he cleaned up alot.

I felt the passion of your report on A. Carroll and that is the sort of thing fan to fan that we are developing on this forum. It's all good!

## " Carroll was acting like a spoiled brat and his daddies (coaches) never did anything to improve his behavior. Maybe he was spoken to after practice, but I doubt it. I hate it that MM let Carroll disgrace the Packers like that." ++

That is an honest heads up. What in the "H" is that all about?Disgusting and unwarranted attacks like that arn't warranted, and won't do snappo for Ahmad Carroll. The coach's share the blame on that one. That was by your description a stupid ass PUNK move, clearly Bush League.

Questions for you gbpackfan

## " Fergie made an unbelievable catch at the back of the endzone." ++

1. gbpackfan. How has R.Ferguson looked overall to you in the OTA's ? Same ? for mark Roman.

## " Ruvell Martin is getting more and more reps with Brett. He looked very good again today. Dangerous weapon in the red zone (fade route)." ++

2. Who are your top five (5) WR's so far in the OTA's ? Your top four (4)safetys?

## " Leach bumbled another pass from Brett. He just can't catch. " ++

As 'the blue dog' once said. . . . .

" You can't teach or learn GOOD HANDS ". . . .

then there's. .

"As always, Henderson caught the ball very nicely out of the back field." ++

## " When Horton got hurt, he layed down right in front of me a said "Shit, fuck, shit, oh fuck, oh shit, god damn it!" A short time later, he walked away. " ++

Your just reporting what Horton said, and if that was just that then I'll report that he was STILL, very pissed.

I commend you again on this outstanding reporting gbpackfan. Great JOB gbpackfan !

Nick Collins,

I did not see any one on one drills between the O and D lines today. As for team drills, I was directly behind the safeties so it was difficult to see the line action. Sorry bro! However, I did see Jason Hunter make a real nice pick and I observed Allen in individual drills. For a big man, he can move!

I once wrote sh!t, GBXU called me out for using a "!" instead of using the word crap. He then edited my post without telling me he was changing the text or marking it edited.

I think it is a big deal. They should delete posts that are unwanted, not edit text without telling posters and giving the option to simply delete, or self edit.

Some loser wrote a 5 paragraph post ripping Bob Harlan as the worst thing to ever happen to the GBP.

I called him an ungrateful bastard.

That got me 5 day suspension. You posted all that profanity, you got warned, and advised to use the terminology I was called out for.

I don't want any sensorship and this place is as close as you can get without getting bombarded by hackers. This is a damn good site. I'll contribute whatever I can to make this place stand out. I should start takin notes like you gbpackfan. I go to the practices too and the ones we both hit, I'm amazed at how much you have. Okay, maybe it's the nature of the d-back to talk junk. But what really, really disturbs me here is that the coaches did nothing. That's a bad sign, a really bad sign. You ignore that behavior and it's only going to get worse. The coaches should be making sure players do the job and be businesslike at these practices.

Not a good sign from this coaching staff.

the_idle_threat

I agree that it's a concern, because if AC gets in the habit of doing this stuff in practice, will he be smart enough to police himself during games so to avoid the big penalty? History tells us he is not ...

I kind of noticed it at an earlier practice too. He almost got a pick a couple days ago and he put his hands on his head and just screamed. All the attention was on him for like 1 full minute because he just kept screaming. It was kind of embarassing for him. I was like ooohh stop man, you look like an idiot.

I guess it's just who he is. He plays at a high level but my lord, he's more annoying than sponge bob. For me it comes down to how he plays. Non of the media really mention it becuase it's not a huge issue if he's showing up and performing, but it is something to talk about I guess.

Maybe you replace him because he is such a fool. I don't know what the best move is. He's starting to turn on his play. He seems less penalty prone and more in tuned to covering his guy when the play is on. I guess that is the most important thing. Everything else is just personal dislike. Since Thompson took over, there are alot less fools on the team, so maybe one won't make much of a difference.

I can't wait till we're cut blocking Kevin Williams and Erasmus James in live games. They'll just have to play at less than 100% as to avoid injury. It's a good tool to slow down the opponent IMO.

packerpete

Carroll playing the fool does have a negative impact on the team.

Teammates derive their mental approach from the group dynamic.

No matter how well an individual does their job, and in spite of teammates saying the right thing, "thats just X bein' X", the team dynamic suffers from foolish attitudes. eg. see TO, even when he was contributing to the team performance and statistics, he was sowing the seeds of destruction with his foolishness and antics both on and off the field.

This is where leadership meets challenge. Our coaching staff AND player leaders need to step in and correct this nonsense because it can cripple a team for years. Not just with Carroll, but with anyone displaying negative behaviors. This is true leadership, not only on-field performance matters, true leaders have the confidence and loyalty of their teammates because the teammates know the leader can be counted upon to do the right thing for the group AT ALL TIMES. This includes nipping bad group dynamic behavior in the bud.

The time to act is NOW! Lets see who steps up. I would love to see Hawk or Kampy just begin to be the guy that truly leads this defense. I dont know if there is anyone else capable on the D roster.
