looks good Joe - I think though that Montgomery will make it, and also Bishop and Hodge will be an interesting battle....

My only disagreements would be Montgomery over Muir (with Jenkins spending the bulk of his time at DT), Bishop over Hodge, and Coston over Thompson (with Colledge as a backup T) but those last two are toss-ups.

What's the deal with Harrell? If he hurt himself weightlifting can't he go on the PUP list? If so, I'd put him there and keep Hodge, Muir, or Bush instead.

good list... cant say i disagree... maybe just the third down back but pass protection i guess alone, unfortunately, will probably force us to keep the vet morency around. noah herron just bores me to death ...

looking at the list of cut guys, i got a BIG OL DOLLAR bet that at least one of those guys ends up in purple ... we got some good guys that wont even make the team.

great problem, a little worrisome in its own way.

I agree Herron is a yawner as a runner, but I think he's the best blocker of all the RB's in camp. BJack HAS to improve in that area.

I don't see Wynn making the first cut. Lumpkin may make it to the last cut or practice squad.

kinda sucks that that's probably what keeps him around... someone has to step up to make him disposable.

QB (3) Rodgers, Brohm, FlynnI guess you missed the recent poll. The forum has determined that there will in fact be a vet QB brought in.

RB (3) Grant, Jackson, Morency :x

I think Wynn has a good shot. Surprise cut might be KGB, simply because he might not get healthy.

I think Wynn has a shot too. Otherwise he'll be this years Clowney, he'll play somewhere.

I'm also on the Wynn bandwagon, I think Morency has peaked and Wynn just has more talent/potential.

The potential to stay out of shape.....

So far he's fulfilled that.

I wish one of our linemen would learn to longsnap. As this team keeps getting more and more depth, that 53rd spot is getting more valuable. Would be nice to have another CB, LB, or RB instead.

I'd keep one less LB and one more O Lineman. That way, Coston stays. Either that or cut Thompson (the OT).

If that happens, I'd keep a 6th WR--Taj Smith, not Swain.

Also, I'd keep Bishop, but cut both Chillar and White.

I, too, would cut Morency and keep Wynn, or if not him, Lumpkin.

Ideally, we'd find some position player to long snap, but I've about given up on that actually happening.

Of course, this could all change with injuries or performance in any given preseason game.

What makes you say that? Bishop looked really good last season; Hodge apparently is healthy and looked really good on Monday; White is one-dimensional--not much good at all from scrimmage; And Chillar showed nothing in that game, and by reports I've heard, very little in practice.

Yeah, I guess I could have been a little more specific. I like Bishop, but White is more valuable on ST than Bishop and both are about the same positionally.

The Packers obviously knew what they were getting with Chillar to pay him the way they did. Cutting him because of a bad quarter or two of preseason ball wouldn't make any sense. I haven't heard the camp reports about him practicing poorly. I would imagine he may be having a difficult time adjusting to finding himself in the 4th LB spot, but I doubt cutting him before he plays in a real game after signing him to that 2 year 5.whatever million dollar contract is even a realistic option.

I wish they hadn't even signed Chillar, but you may be right, they are unlikely to cut him quick, at least, after pulling the trigger to sign him.

Chillar is supposed to be good covering the TE's downfield and that was definitely a weak spot for us last year. He and Pops will prolly play some in this 3-4 lineup. That way Pop can be a standup end and either rush or drop into coverage as Hawk or Barnett blitz.

giants lost a playoff game a several years ago and I don't recall any team getting cute by not having a specialist since.

I also think that we will mysteriously have about 4-5 guys on the bubble suffer strange injuries at the end of camp and go on the DL for the year...sort of like wynn when he couldn't get past the 1st quarter last year.

Candidates....giacominni, flynn, harell, either hunter or thompson (DE), the rookie TE (forget his name).....you know the "non practicing" practice squad where we keep the rights.

I think he was displeased with the "STFU" not being as clear and universally-understood as "shut the fuck up" in that instance.

sometimes you just gotta spell it out for the kids but i think skin will pull it off next time.

no way we start season with just 8 OL. I say only 2 TE or 1FB 3 TE. Past history shows that we can find another RB if one goes down to injury. So I would bet we go 3 TE 1 FB and 9 OL. With the 3rd TE being used as 2nd FB if need be.

HarveyWallbangers
08-13-2008, 05:02 PM
Do they have 10 DL that deserve to make the team? Sounds like Muir is disappointing. Take his spot and give it to an OL. I doubt Swain makes the team. That would give them room for a veteran QB too.

Joemailman

I could see TT trying to package a LB and Jarrett Bush in a trade, either for picks or a vet QB. Or he might cut Muir or KGB and keep all 7 linebackers.

No one's going to be trading for bubble players. They've got their own bubble players and after each cut-down, those kind of guys will be everywhere if they want to swap out 3rd stringers for 3rd stringers.
