I'd like to see the list of Bears QBs. Some of our backups have done well elsewhere. The Bears can't even find one decent one.

That's one above average QB since the 1960s.
:D

McMahon did it with perhaps the best defense of all-time and Walter Payton at RB.

Some names in there that are funny - and one that surprised me...Tomczak? I must've blanked out the 'other' Bears QB that played for us. Did he stop off for a cup of coffee on his way to Pittsburgh or something?

You just had to go and remind us of T.J. Rubley, didn't you? :P

Besides McMahon and Tomczak, Zeke Bratkowski and Jack Concannon played for the Bears, too...Concannon was the Bears' starter around the time I started following football:

This Bears blogger seems to have a pretty complete list, though I think he left out Bill Wade:
http://smilinhank.wordpress.com/category/the-quarterback-list-project/

Some random thoughts:
1. Willie Thrower is one hell of a name for a quarterback.
2. I never knew Bobby Layne was drafted by the Bears until I saw this list...looked it up, and sure enough, they traded him after his rookie year. Well, no WONDER they had problems.
3. It is amazing how many really, really mediocre to just plain bad QBs the Bears have had.

How come Aaron Brooks isn't on your "historical" list you racist?

Aaron Brooks was on the Packers' bench, but I don't believe he ever took a snap in the regular season until he went to New Orleans.

does that make him any less of a man?

If you want to get into roster spots, or even camp bodies, the list would expand quite a lot...to include for instance Kurt Warner, Tim Couch, etc.

Tim Couch

Tim Couch was funny. I consider Brooks to be deserving of the list since he was drafted by GB and was only two QB injuries away from playing.

True dat. I think Couch was behind Tauscher on the QB dept chart...

btw who knew Danny Wueffrel threw 2 passes for us?
