Wide receiver Jordan Kent made the Seattle Seahawks final 53 man squad after playing only 3 years of football in his life.
During high school in Eugene, OR, Kent was an outstanding basketball and track star. He never played football during high school.
The University of Oregon offered him a dual basketball and track scholarship. For the BB team, he played small forward for his father, Coach Ernie Kent.
In the spring of his junior year, quarterback Kellen Clemens(now with the New York Jets behind Brett Favre) encouraged him to try out for the spring football session. He amazed the coaches with his speed and athletic ability.
During his junior year, he played in a reserve role. By his senior year, he was a starter.
The following year, the Seahawks drafted him. They realized he had strong potential as a receiver after only playing football for two years. They put him on the practice squad to expand his football knowledge.
This past preseason he caught 9 passes for 115 yards scoring two touchdowns. Yesterday, he learned he made the final 53 player cut and is on the regular roster.
What a remarkable story in overcoming the odds of making it to the NFL.
