I feel like taking a pic and sending to league somehow.

Scoreboard dipshit.

pbmax
09-08-2008, 09:13 PM
All that accomplished was cost the Vikings a TO and got it to 2:00 remaining. If Ryan was still punting we could get a first down on a bad snap. But now, with a gassed defense, he's putting it in their hands.

I don't like this at all.

Rogers played great - O-line did much better in protection than I ever could have imagined. For all that was said about the D-line of the Vikings - I thought our O-line easily manhandled them.

Great game by Grant.

Manhandled their O-Line?
No, they didn't. We had trouble running the ball even on our second last possession. But, Our O-Line was able to hold their own against what is considered to be the top DL in the league, so I'm more than happy with that.

Huge kudos to Clifton who handled Allen one on one most of the night.

I don't think B is saying Rodgers played unspectacular tonight. I think he is saying our team is strong enough that we won't have to rely on Rodgers to win the division. He just needs to play smart, make a few plays, and limit turnovers; and then rely on the running game, defense, and special teams. Rodgers doesn't have to win games by himself, which is true.

We won, so I'm happy. That's all that really matters. Both of these teams have potential, but have some kinks to work out. November 9 looks to be fairly epic though.

But we're 1-0 and we're in first place in the division, so hooray! Rodgers looked just fine, and week 1 last year was uglier to be honest. As Grant gets into more and more game shape, the running game will come around. That and Tony Moll won't be in the starting lineup for long.

Shit play to end the game.....Great game by Green Bay. Congrats on the win. I thought Rodgers looked just fine.

Solid and unspectacular play by our QB should win a division IMO

The Vikings are a QB away from being a NFC championship contender IMO

Unspectacular? That 2nd qtr td was phenomenal! As were a few other plays...

The TD pass to Driver that called back was also beautiful... I don't know what unspectacular play he saw.

I don't think he was talking about tonight but what should be sufficient for the rest of the season.

Seeing as I made no reference to AROD's play tonight, I figured there would be no need to interpret my statement as having anything whatsoever to how he played tonight

That was a very entertaining game (except for the ridiculous number of penalties). Nothing like starting the season beating a division opponent. The Vikes fans on here were good sports, too. The Metrodome rematch should be very interesting indeed.

Surprisingly. I didn't expect the D to play this well. Tavaris had flashes of brilliance there. I see what Chilly sees. Can it become consistent? No idea.

T-Jack did look good, especially through the late 3rd and the 4th quarter. I thought Minn's O moved the ball more consistently than ours did.

I was surprised looking at the line that T-Jack was only 16/35, under 50%??? Seemed like he completed just about everything on those two critical drives late in the game.

hahaha,

unspectacular my ass.

The TD pass was all Rodgers. The sneak was who? The bomb to Driver? tWho was that? The bomb to Jennings? The huge ass runs? Who?

Rodgers made pretty much every huge play 'cept the big run by Grant. Haha, Favre lovers are on crack :) :) :)

It's a long season though. Rodgers has to stay healthy and McCarthy has to keep him from getting too Cowboy or he'll be layin' in the mud with a knee poking out of his shin.

They beat a good Viking team that wanted to catch Rodgers before he had much game experience. I think the second game against this Packer team is going to be more difficult than this one, regardless of where its played.

T-Jack didn't look great, but he can probably get the job done. His big problem is that when he runs, he doesn't move to the sidelines or slide. Like M3 says, it's durability that makes a legendary QB. T-jack's gonna get himself killed out there pretending to be a RB.

Great game. Funny, just before Bigby made the INT I was talking about how I was worried he would give up a big penalty to set up a score for the Vikes.

And, in a way, thank God for Tony Moll. Joe needed 6 points to beat me in PR Fantasy Football and Tony Moll stripped victory away from Joe.

OK, since you took the initial potshots I'd simply say this......and it ONLY applies if you are referring to my statement of fact to Rastak.

Also, the old ass farts that used to pack Lambeau to see one last run from the old guy seem to be gone!!! The stadium was packed iwth noise. Really, that was an even game with Rodgers being the best Packer and Peterson being the best Viking. The crowd made the difference.

I feel good about the game for many reasons, most that are not with Rodgers. There were a lot of "areas of concern" that we thought we had or may still have but tonight answered a lot of those questions. Rodgers played simple, he made the throws a pro QB is supposed to make and made the TD pass that very good QB's make. Thats a huge start for him in his career but like all the good ones, its longevity and consistency that I want outta him and hopefully that happens.. also I hope he learns to shed some hits every once in awhile.. he seems to take some shots he doesn't have to after the ball is released

Considering it was his first start ever, national stage, hated rival, off-season controversy right behind him, big expectations/pressures, the kid did well. It's a good start in a tough spot and that can't be taken away from him. The good news about any mistakes is I think this kid will get better with more experience, assuming health, and will improve things like escapability. It's a process, but a good start AR! Congrats.

I think I mis-worded my opening sentence. I meant I was more worried about other areas of our team than Arod tonight. Mostly cuz of injuries. I figured Arod would get a simple gameplan to just not lose the game. He made the plays that he was given to make, and thats pretty much what you want from any QB... I just wanted to make that clear because I dont think I did the first time..

It does bear to mention a few things. With the exception of the rare midseason trade or signing an also-ran off of his couch to fill a position, Ted Thompson's job for the 2008 season is over. It's certainly over as concerns the on-field product in any significant way, barring a significant injury. So whether we like Ted or hate him, and whether the team he fielded works out of it doesn't, it's sort of pointless to talk about Ted now.

Anything we can say about Ted Thompson at this point is largely second-guessing and recrimination, and the product on the field is a hell of a lot more interesting than the product in the office.

Had an awesome time at the game last night. The crowd was pumped, the beer was going down well...the team played overall very good. Just two observations.....we are in major trouble if Grant gets hurt and we have to rely on BJack. Also, M3's play calling in the 2nd half was garnering a few boo's in the crowd. Not sure if that was picked up on TV or not, but lots were booing about that. Especially towards the end when he didn't even attempt to pick up the first down.

I read back a few pages in this thread, sounds like Kornholio was at his finest again... so glad that I didn't have to listen to that idiot. Although the annoying Queens fan sitting behind me was just as irritating.

Just as I was telling my girlfriend how he had gained a bunch of weight, and Oakland was supposedly concerned with the shape he was in, etc, the announcers started saying how hard he'd worked, attending all the offseason weight training sessions, etc, and that Oakland couldn't have asked more from him...so which is it???
