The Bengals gave up on him very quickly and his contract wasn't that bad.

Per ESPN "Johnson was scheduled to make $3.65 million this season."

I think its telling that the Lions are the ones that ended up with him. He's probably done.

GO MATT....sign a few more washed up guys to hold down the bottom of the roster while we keep it fresh young and developing.

I don't think this guy is washed up.

Bengals cut him to save cash. We may regret this signing.

rumor is they are going to make a strong attempt at running the football this year now that Martz is gonzo.. Marinelle is a defensive coach so this makes sense.. hopefully they dont get a running game to go along with Johnson and Williamson catchin the ball or they could have a real good O

It's a good signing for Detroit - and that's no "rumor" about them running the ball. They will be running the ball. Every quote from every coach, and the evidence of preseason, suggests as much.

Rudi may have a few good games, but he's a stop gap guy.

He's all hit out, I'm sure he'll play well for a bit, but his body is falling apart.

2000+ touches for Rudi already in his career. It doesnt seem like he's been around long enough for that.

But here's the really weird part of the story:

Nobody is safe from theft in Detroit!

He was hurt last year, hurt all this summer.

He can go for awhile, but he can't go the season anymore.
